My Gamo free shipping experience
« on: February 17, 2009, 01:33:36 PM »
Package came today.  All worse for wear and scuffed up.

My surprise package from Gamo:

Such a sturdy box. Like the racing stripes.

Taped but had hole in corner, dribbling pellets.

Apparently, they don't have bubble wrap in Spain. And I've seen rat's nests with more filler.  Note the loose pellets. The can on the bottom left is the leaker.

If you look at this can, you will note that it is not open. Still has a turn or so left on it and is closed.

Out of 500 pellets, 32 still in the can.

I swear, someone dumped that can and then put the lid back on. Never seen one come off and screw itself back on. Only one other tin had a slight dent in the edge but not enough to matter. Being my first mail order of pellets (yes, been buying off the shelf), this isn't exactly a devoted follower maker for Gamo.

BTW, in counting the pellets remaininn that that tin, I ended up with a LOT of lead particles/dust on my fingers.  You can probably see it in the can.  Washing is a MUST for these!  Plus I have to get all the cardboard lint out of the loose ones.

Free shipping!  Whoooeeee!

Hey, maybe Gamo was trying to get rid of DAMAGED tins and pellets????  Anywho, I've emailed them the pictures and my comments.  Make some mighty fine fishing weights, them loose pellets will!

I just rcvd my 6 tins. All was ok. But I'mreally lucky this time. Mine were packed in a box just like RedFeather's and same type of packing material...strips of cardboard. No tins were opened or even partially opened. Even the tins themselves had no dents or dings. It was a good deal, but its a bit like gambling.

Yep, yet more proof that there really isn't anything that's "Free".

Well,,,I've got a good story to share.  Thanks Birdmove for the PM on the free shipping deal.

I ordered 4 tins,,,they came in a padded manilla envelope.....it sounded real bad like a lot of loose ones

But everything was completely intact,,,no dings, dents or loose pellets.

I washed and sorted one tin and found three bad ones:  one with no head,,,and two with oval shaped skirt - which those perhaps could be ok in a tight barrel.  Have to say I am very happy with my experience.

Guess its the luck of the draw

Hi.  I read all the posts about the Gamo deal and couldn't resist the adventure myself.  Same experience.  Came in flat pack no packing material outside the quilted envelope.  I ordered 3 tins.  Two were fine and the third 'mysteriously' opened, dropped out a few dozen pellets and then reclosed itself!  What's up with that?  All in all my experience wasn't that bad.  A couple dozen smashed pellets.

My real puzzlement is why Gamo would come up with a decent deal that would build good will amongst the people that support them and then be so careless as to toss all that goodwill out the window with careless packaging?  Wow the number of responses here has the making of a Harvard Business Review case study on the 'stupid things' companies do...

I had ordered two tins and received them One tin is dented and I haven't opened it yet to check them. I then ordered four more tins. When that envelope came, it only contained two tins. I emailed Gamo last night and tasked if they may have shipped them in two envelopes. They replied super quick and said they were checking into what happened and that maybe they were on back order? They replied again super fast and said they were sending me two more tins.
That, my friends, is good customer service.I got the firse email at 5:47 am Pac coast time, and the second at 8:17am!!

They could come up with a better shipping method, yes, but for customer service---A+!!

Why bother to wash the pellets?
« Reply #14 on: March 06, 2009, 02:23:52 PM »
I washed one tin. The pellets don't get cleaner, my hand is still grey with lead after a session. Lead is lead, it is like washing the tip of your pencil..But, I found that by washing the pellets, the skirts are minutely damaged and the accuracy suffers. I shot side by side, a washed tin and an untouched one, the untouched one is a tiny bit more straight and my left hand is dirty the same for both tins.  Does anyone find the same thing?
