Increase power
« on: February 19, 2009, 11:50:29 AM »
Has anyone increase the power on the Disco to 1000 - 1100 fps.
I know that the shoots per fill will go down, if 5 shoots is all i get that would be fine with me.

You should be able to with a stronger hammer spring and a power adjuster . Marvin

Marvin, what I am trying to do is get the fps up to 1000-1100 fps with 14.3gn so when I use heavy's the fps well be close to 900-950 fps but I will dial the cp 14.3 down to the 900-950 fps.

Going to be tougher than it seems.

Maxed out a 'power adjuster' using replacement spring (a bit stronger than standard) and got into the lower 900's.  Any more spring tension and the spring became coil-bound before the sear would engage. "Good" shot count (where vel. doesn't fall more than 30 fps) was about 12 shots.

think to get it up to 1000-1100 (with 14.3gr.) would need to do a bit of valve work (perhaps enlarging the transfer port and a bit of sharp-edge-smoothing)...or run it at more than 2K pressure (which would need a new, higher rated, gas tube).  Heavier hammer might gain a bit of speed (increasing valve dwell) but would guess it  would wastes a good bit more air.

Let us know what you tried and the results.
Robert

Over the years, tend to toss salvaged springs into a  couple of shoe boxes  under my bench,  afraid I can't tell you were it came from.  Same over all size as the issue one, a little shorter, but seemed to be of slightly thicker wire.  Using a power adjuster/spring guide.

Pellet used for those tests was the inexpensive Crosman HP's (14.3gr.).  My opinion was that the rifle suxs at that setting, way too much work pumping it up to 2K just to get a dozen decent 26 foot pound shots when you can easily get TWICE that number of good 21 foot pound shots.
