Evaluated my shooting and hunting over the last three years...decided...and am almost springer free (kept an old Webley Junior and a 118 Daisy).   If I want precison, will take out a single stroke...if I want power, will take out a PCP (or a MSP if I don't need more than 12-14FPE+)....and if I want "fun" will take out a co2 (so long as it's above 50degrees).

So far, haven't had any wthdrawl symptoms.

Thats good, the first step to recovery he he. But you've got to keep one springer around in case you relapse.  Ed

weird thing is I just went the other direction.  I don't own any PCP's, but I was pretty hooked on CO2 there for awhile and pretty much forgot about springers.  I even bought a 1377 a few months ago, modded the heck out of it, and traded it away for another CO2 gun.  Recently I started to feel this little nudge, and a couple weeks ago while walking through WalMart I saw one of those elusive Gamo Shadow 1000's for $74.  I couldn't help myself, it came home with me and I have been shooting it ever since:)  Just built another CO2 for my wife for Christmas, and finished building another one today for myself, but I sure do love shooting that Gamo.  I also have yet another QB78 that I'll be rebuilding over the next few weeks....., but my guess is that I'll still be shooting that Gamo.  I've even started keeping my eyes opened for the next good deal on a springer.  I have 4 (oops, 5) of them, but all are lower end and lower powered (except the S1K).  I think maybe next time I'll treat myself to something a little nicer....anyone got a TX they wanna trade for about 12 low end CO2 guns?  Hehe, just kidding:)

Hey RibbonStone.... I have done about the same thing except I started with springers and faut them until I got me a good aim and good targets. Got the Co2 bug and boy is that a fun gun.."QB". and a Crosman 2640 Co2 custom. Love them both. I did go a bit overboard with two of Roy Weid's custom bulk fill QB's but ended up selling them both and kept my semi moded QB 78.

Then the PCP's started talkin to me.. Bought a Samatra .22 and a FX Cyclone. These two PCP's are great for knock down. Especially the Samatra. The Cyclone is a tack driver out to 50 yards........ BUT, I love me springers and always fall back on them. They are such a challenge and now that I have moded my S1K's with .20 cal walther choked barrels, they shoot as accurate as my Cyclone.."almost"  hehe.

But everyone has there favorite and I think I will always love the springers. But is does not mean ya can't bring out one of those Co2's when weather permits or the PCP's when ya wanna boast your ego with fantastic accuracy..

Doubt I'll go back to spingers...all in all, the three air-gun uses I have (target, outdoor plinking, squirrel hunting) are filled.

Had a FWB300U before Katrina...lucky enough to have gotten a Walter and a Dasiy/Gamo Walther clone as replacemtns...now I don't shoot competitive matches, so the effort in charging these single stroks isn't an issue (but i can see how it would lead to lower scores in a real match).  These two single strokes are head-to-head in accuracy and are constructed just as well.

Most hunting works just fine with the old multi-stoke penumatics...Benjamins and Sheridans.  They can be carried all day charged and ready to go, almost all adult males recognize them as an airgun which calms their nerves when they see me with them, and they have ample power/accuracy for small game.

I like the CO2's, but don't take them too seriously...are fun, accurate enough, and powerful enough, but other than pest shooting and fun plinking, they don't get a lot of serious use.  Hunting takes place in cooler weather...and co2 just isn't at it's best in cool or cold weather.


Springerless extends to pistols as well (except for that old Webley Jr. and 118 Daisy)...are three single strokes and two CO2's at hand.


Haven't decided about the one PCP ...it's probably going to my brother...I kind of owe him big-time and I haven't found the PCP "expereince" all that delightful.
