Cros 760B 22cal Conversion
« on: February 27, 2009, 05:49:27 AM »
Picked up a couple 760 reman smooth bores. Wanted to do something different so I figure 22 cal is what is called for. Cut the new barrel to fit the breech block so the new bot will seal in he barrel. Added a set screw to keep things inline. Then cut off the old bolt about half way back &threaded it. Then made a new bolt end with oring. More pics to come as I progress. Should finish up today.

Still needs tweeking, but over all Im pretty happy with the out come. Theres realy nothing to keep the barrel stable. So it needs another internal block near the front of the reciever. Wouldnt be a problem with open sights. Everything would be attached to the barrel. So far it has a flat top piston & valve, open trans port. Still needs a lighter valve spring I didnt have one, but I wanted to get it together. As a result it doesnt dump all the air at 10 pumps. I cut the clip down to 3 shots so it didnt stick out so far. Also bent the retainer clips back & bored it out to 22 cal. Then bent the retainers back to hold the pellets. It has a 1322 barrel, & the bolt seats in the barrel not the plastic block. So far so good. Total so far $20 reman 760 + shipping. I made everything else. I should be looking at 620 fps with CPs, & 15 pumps.

I rebarreled a 760 with one from a 1760. Mountain Air did the machine work. It is set up as a direct replacement of the 760 barrel. I like how you've moved the barrel all the way back so the bolt fits into the breach to seal.
Did I understand right that you are using the clip magazine to load the .22 pellets? If so that's way cool.
I found a lot of slop between the barrel band and pump tube that allowed the barrel to wobble on mine. I put shims around the part of the band that fits in the tube. Took out all the slop and the barrel is very stable now.

Yes the clip works. That was my first job because I didnt think I could load without the clip. I think if I make a barrel block that screws to the reciever like the one with the port, & put it inside right were the barrel comes out it should cure the slight movement. Right now it puts every shot in the same hole. Just cant be sure the hole is in the same spot it was the last time I shot it.
