Early observation MM B26 .177
« on: March 02, 2009, 03:54:49 PM »
I shot a few groups last week after mounting the scope and it seemed that it grouped a bit differently with each kind of pellet.  My Bearcub wasn't so picky and my B26 .22 is quite as picky.
Keeping in mind this was done with a dirty barrel straight from the factory.

Today I put flat washers under the tooth washers on the front forearm screws.  I'm hoping this will keep the screws tight and from crushing the wood.  I did this on both B26's.

I also cleaned the bore with Simple Green and my AoA Crown Saver, then polished the bore with several strokes of JB Bore Non-embedding bore paste.  I also did this when I bought my B26 .22 and QB57 .177, they are both tack drivers.

Providing it's not too windy on Wednesday, I'll shoot the MM .177 and see how it does.
I need to put some shots thru it to break it in any way.
 :)

hasn't been cooperating.  It's been quite windy with gusts up to over 50 mph.
I may have to put on a jacket and try for Sunday.

I was banging away with it 2 nights ago and then I remembered someone here saying that they shoot their B26 with a tight grip.
So I tried it and it worked!
My MM .177 is a cuddler, she likes to be held tight.  Just the opposite of my .22 one
My groups shrank in half at least.
Now to see what happens as it breaks in.

Muleskinner, you probably remember when I asked you to post pics way back when you got your B20's.
I've been wanting to play with these BAM's since they came out.
What's in your BAM collection now?

with the different pellets I have on hand at the moment.  I have an old ammo can that I'm slowly filling up.  It's also kind of a fun way to break it in.
I'm making little notes as I go so I can post the results later.
Same for the .22 B26 and QB57.

Congrats Troy on your B-26 .177. I'm going thru the break in process with that rifle right now too. After 300 shots 7.9 gr cpl's are making one ragged hole at my 14 yd indoor target. It's the only pellet I've tried.I got it from Mike Melick and I recommend everybody to get a B-26 .177 from Mike @ Flying Dragon.Like Peak Chick said, it's 85-90% of the more expensive R-9. Just not quite as pretty or expensive. A GREAT value.
