Now my rifles of interest are QB 36 2 and Crosman Phantom 1000.  My pros and cons on each rifle are follows.  QB 36 2 pros wood stocked(which I am partial to) and lower priced(which is always nice in my book).  Cons no adjustable trigger and rated at 900 fps.  Phantom 1000 pros an adjustable trigger and reviewed to be a powerful and true 1000 fps rifle.  Cons this is a synthetic stocked rifle and is the more expensive of the 2.  Either of these rifles would be purchased gun only and I would add on one of the scopes I already have(3x9x50 World Class, 2.5x10x42 Tasco Varmint w AO, or older steel tubed Weaver 3x9x40 with a focus ring or AO).  Now on to comparing the rifles against each other am I comparing apples to apples or oranges and why?  Thanks in advance.

Hi, Kendall, just wanted to say howdy and welcome aboard!  Since I know nothing about either of the two rifles in question, I can't help.  You might look at the Product Reviews, I think both guns have been reviewed fairly recently by guys that know their stuff.  Later.

1) The Crosman Quest is the same gun as the Phantom - except that it has a wood stock, and is usually a little cheaper.

2) I suspect you'd find the QB36-2 to be less accurate and less powerful. "BB" tested the TF99 (QB36-2) on http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2006/12/tech-force-99.html, and found it to be a mediocre performer. Plus, the Shanghai factory that makes them is known to have spotty QC.

3) Crosman has decent parts support for their current products, both in coverage and in price. Not so with Shanghai.

4) If by some chance the sear and beartrap mechanism would fail while you're loading the gun, the Crosman won't chop your finger off like a sliding-breach type gun can.

5) The Crosman is lighter.

6) On the down side, the rear sight on the Crosman is a POS. It works, but it's flimsy.
