Went for a walkabout and nearly stepped on a fox and got stepped on by a big Buck. I have photos of both, the buck from very close... 15 yards or so. I was closer to the fox, but slow to get my camera out. I considerred a shot but thought better of it with my .177 CFX.
Are squirrels afraid of deer? I didn't see any for the longest time. Finally at the end of the day I saw 2 about 60 yards out. I SLOWLY crept over there, the leaves crunching quietly under my feet. I used trees and bushes to slowly move to about 30 yards. I have spooked many squirrels trying to get too close but I"m getting better at it.
I was leaning against a tree and waiting for the one on the ground to present a good angle. He turned towards me and half way sat up...I let a predator fly and hit him squarely. It did not dispatch him as quickly as the last 2.... he fell over, jumped up and ran very quickly about 8 feet up a little tree he was under. Then he just fell off it and hit the ground. He crawled about 3 feet, but in less than 5 or 8 seconds he was gone. Again, very little blood. I have a picture finally. Got lot's of pictures today. I'll try to attach the squirrel shot but anyone wanting a very good photo of a buck or a mediocre shot of a fox let me know. EDIT (I see I must greatly reduce the detail so all the shots will be mediocre, whoops)

John
