Over-tightenning is a risk with products made and assembled from sub-standard materials. I've come to the conclusion that it's best to procure better quality allen heads from a hadware store and keep the originals for back-up use. Then again, the mounts are often made of poor quality materials and retapping them a size bigger helps as well ( a bigger and deeper threading will give you a bit more torqueing power). Another point that you made really hit home too,....how makers describe their products!!!! When I recieved my UTG Diana comp mount, it clearly tates on the packaging that the clamping plate is fully reversable,....guess what,....it wasn't?!?!? Dave's write though, if you've got the money, you'd be better off getting a Beeman/Sports Match 5039 ajdustable mount for your rifle. They're kinda expensive, but well worth the cost in the long run. I've had one on my Crosman SP and it's never given me any problems. Just a bit tricky setting it up,....but once you get passed that, it's there for good!!!!Good Luck, tjk
