I have a RWS 48 in 177, and a RWS 48/52 in 177 (same gun early model). I really love these well made, heavy and powerful air rifles. I like a heavy gun, that makes it easier to shoot. I think the weight makes the spring "jump" less. I have the recoil-less version, the RWS 54, and that is a fantastic air rifle. It is a litttle heavier than the others and a real joy to shoot! I have always liked the side cocker, since getting my Barnett Spitfire side cocker in 1984. For 22 power...I have my under lever RWS 460...and that is a very well made heavy and accurate air rifle. For 177 power with a heavy pellet, I have my RWS 350 Magnum. I like this rifle so well, that I want one in 22! And for the joy of plinking and target shooting, and a easy to cock air rifle, I have my RWS 46 under lever in 177. All of these RWS air rifles are very well made, fit and finnish is great, and they are all very accurate. I looked at a GAMO Whisper...and it was so light that it felt like a toy. I did not like the plastic barrel, with the rifled steel liner...but the Whisper does shoot, and if you want a very light gun...the Whisper is it! Years ago I bought my father a used RWS 36 in 177, and at age 86 he still shoots it! Again, the RWS air rifle is one of the best! And it is made in Germany. Rheinish-Westfalische Sprengstoff (RWS) located in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia is associated with the highest quality air guns and air gun ammunition available.
