For sure they are a very well made air rifle. Just a little on the heavy side but great quality.

What is the difference between the 34 and the 48 in .22 cal? Seems like 100.00 or more. I want to get a .22, but would prefer to to spend less than 250.00

i have a rws 48.22 and that rifle is very good in the power and accuratecy department at 35 yd that ive tried so far maybe 37yds this will knock any critter into into an early grave with no problem at all .i only use it for target but you can feel the power behind the trigger that its a rifle well made by those germans and if i had to purchase another i will ,i also bought mine brand new for 300.00 when impact air closed from kevin bartel good guy he is.that is a good price at p.a. they want 406.00 without glass.i was gonna trade mine but some of my forum brothers changed my mind they r heavy but u get use to it.

I have a RWS 48 in 177, and a RWS 48/52 in 177 (same gun early model).  I really love these well made, heavy and powerful air rifles.  I like a heavy gun, that makes it easier to shoot.  I think the weight makes the spring "jump" less.  I have the recoil-less version, the RWS 54, and that is a fantastic air rifle.  It is a litttle heavier than the others and a real joy to shoot!  I have always liked the side cocker, since getting my Barnett Spitfire side cocker in 1984.  For 22 power...I have my under lever RWS 460...and that is a very well made heavy and accurate air rifle.  For 177 power with a heavy pellet, I have my RWS 350 Magnum.  I like this rifle so well, that I want one in 22!  And for the joy of plinking and target shooting, and a easy to cock air rifle, I have my RWS 46 under lever in 177.  All of these RWS air rifles are very well made, fit and finnish is great, and they are all very accurate.  I looked at a GAMO Whisper...and it was so light that it felt like a toy.  I did not like the plastic barrel, with the rifled steel liner...but the Whisper does shoot, and if you want a very light gun...the Whisper is it!  Years ago I bought my father a used RWS 36 in 177, and at age 86 he still shoots it!  Again, the RWS air rifle is one of the best!  And it is made in Germany.  Rheinish-Westfalische Sprengstoff (RWS) located in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia is associated with the highest quality air guns and air gun ammunition available.

I got my RWS 350 Magnum new from Sportsman's Warehouse for $249!  I could not pass that up.  Maybe you could find a used one for under $200.  I found a like new Beeman R-1 like new at a gunshop for $165.  Also call Glen at UMAREX 479-646-4210.  They often have "blemished seconds, and demo air rifles cheap.  Glen at UMAREX/RWS will let you know what they have.  I also want a 22 RWS 350, so I am looking for one now.  I have a 460 in 22, and it is a fine, and powerful air rifle...very accurate too.

I called glen, and he hooked me up with a demo RWS 48 for 235, shipped!! WOW, that was great... I shot about 200 pellets this weekend, very very powerful .22..  It took me about 50 shots to get used to the side cocker and loading.  This is a german percision machine!

What scope should I put on this?  Less than $75

Hey there fish, I am a 48 guy myself and just love holding and hunting with that bad boy.  People always mention the "weight" issue, but in a Wal-Mart throw away world, I just love to pick up and shoulder this rifle knowing that it is one thing that will outlast me!  Your $ situation is much like mine, having four kids I felt guilty to even purchase my .22 48 (but not too guilty to get it anyway!), so with the money left I went to Wallyworld and bought the very nice CenterPoint 4-16x40AO Mil Dot illuminated reticle for exactly your price restriction of $79!  This was nearly three years ago, and now that same model scope sits atop five more rifles that I have bought and three more of a buddies!  Go for it, I don't think you will regret it.  Enjoy your 48, and get out huntin'!  Ross

I was at Wally World tonight to pick up The Day The Earth Stood Still, wandered over to the sporting goods dept. and bought their last 2 4x16x40 Illuminated MilDot Centerpoints.  I've got a couple of em, like them a lot and figured even if I don't have a rifle right now to put em on, at least I've got spares.  They are nice scopes and for the money you can't go wrong.  If it breaks, no mailing it back to anyone, you just take it back and exchange it or get your money back...What could be more simple?
