Crosman Marauder

Can anyone tell me if the new Crosman Maruder is single action or double action? Do you have to open and close the bolt, each time you squeeze the trigger?

The Marauder is what is known as a multi-shot repeater....you have a clip that holds the pellets and you will need to cock the bolt to chamber a round into the breech for each shot.

Semi-automatic airguns....there's only a few of them....the FX line; Monsoon and Revolution and maybe a very few other brands require that you cock the airgun once....after the first shot...the airgun will re-use some of it's spent air to cycle the next round.  So you just keep on pulling the trigger until your clip is empty.

Single and double action refers to the hammer of the gun or airgun being cocked or not.  In single action, the hammer is cocked by hand (Pulled back and held in place by a sear) so the trigger just need a light touch and the gun will fire.  Double action means the hammer is down and you will need more force to pull the trigger to bring the hammer back (It will not stay in place)...and as you continue pulling the trigger...the hammer will reach a certain point and snap back forward and fire the gun/airgun.  There's a few airguns like that....Koreans I believe....Evanix Renegade Pistol, AR4 and AR6.  I believe airguns with a hammer usually use the revolver style of clip to hold the pellets.

Thank you gamo2hammerli , for this very usefull information!  My 10 year old Crosman 1077 is Considered a "multi-shot repeater", but it pushes a pellet every time I squeeze the trigger. So I hope you understand my confusion. I love my cheap 1077, however its time for more power and better accurcy. Im interested in purchasing my very first, PCP rifle.

The new Marauder is very tempting, and I love the fact that its made here in the good ole USA. Absolutely beautifull rifle.....However, I love the .......
"pushes a pellet every time I squeeze the trigger" .......... feature, so I guess its time to look at the foriegn, and more expensive  Evanix and/or FX models.

Thanks again for your words of wisdom!

The Evanix AR6....no cocking even for the first shot...just keep pulling the trig till its empty then
toss a new mag in and yer off again.. the trig cocks the hammer and indexis the mag .but the pull is a bit heavy...
Or yer can cock the hammer each shot if yer want for a lighter trig action...

They are able to use a hammer instead of a bolt / probe system because they fire the pellet
from the mag..no probe to push it into the barrel so that means the cocking stroke is very short.

AR4 - .177
AR5 - .20
AR6 - .22
AR7 - .25...Nar they didn't build one

Alan, there's a few members here with FX airguns...if I remember correctly Gene and PelletPaul both have the multi-shot Cyclone...and they both really luv them. I remember a member here mentioning that two of his buddies have the semi-automatic FX Monsoon....and that they kept on tinkering with them and probably messing them up. As far as I know I don't think any members here own a Monsoon.

For advice on Evanix airguns.....Kiwi's the man....he owns at least 3 of them. As he says....their triggers need alot of power to pull....usually that results in poor accuracy.....but Kiwi's been nailing his bunnies with them.
