Mark Levin: Liberty and Tyranny

If you don't read or read well, listen to the audio book.  Have your kids read or listen to the audio book.  It is important.

Isn't there a religious and political section on GTA?  I don't mind the bs'ng, jokes and way out stuff posted here, but do feel that those two sometimes volatile areas should be in a forum where you expect to find them.

I think it is already in a second printing. From what I heard the other day the book is  well researched.  It is a must read for me.

I recommend it as a good book to read and make no other comment or discussion.  But since you ask, and consider it potentially "volatile" I have moved it to the political & religious discussion forum.

Also, this being the case, shall I, in the future, strictly apply the same standard to any post which seems political or religious (ie, prayer requests, etc.), politically and religiously moving them to the "Politics and Religious Discussion" forum?

Let us be politically correct and secular in our forum posts, please, and not mention controversial topics, especially topics like liberty and tyranny.  It is the American way.

Your humble servant, etc.

I agree with you Tommy ! When has the recommendation of a BOOK been Political? I believe almost everything on the Back Room Gate could be considered either Religious or Political. Is this another Lesson of Politically Correct Speach ! Or is just the mere mention of Political or Religion by someone enough to make it so ?

I would have left it where it was ! But that's just ME !

Our political thinking is being shaped by attitudes and influences most either aren't aware of, or just don't want to think or talk about.  Too controversial, too volatile -- might upset someone.  God forbid.  That being the case, it is absolutely essential, in my way of political and religious thinking, that all Americans, irrespective of their personal beliefs, both political and religious, read this book and understand the current dynamic between liberty and tyranny, and what it means for you and your families. . .

Or you could just shoot air rifles and watch Dancing With the Stars and not worry too much about it.  Those gals have really *_*_*_*_*_*y dance costumes, and it will probably all work out OK, anyhow.

Cheers.

The book has set the record for first week online sales at Amazon. No wonder it will ship in 1 to 2 weeks and not immediately.

You can download the audio book immediately on iTunes.  I have several hard copies on order, but I downloaded the audio, too.  I like to listen in my car.  The problem is that now I have to find and read some of Edmund Burke & Alexis Tocqueville's works as well as brush up more on Adams & Jefferson -- but I risk diverging into political discussion if I mention more . . .

Gene:

You have to have an iTunes account, yes.  If you want, I will loan you mine when I am finished.  There may be other PC-friendly places to down load the book, too.

The little red hen . . .
« Reply #11 on: March 27, 2009, 08:29:19 AM »
Insight of how today's 'politically correct' mind works:

The little red hen called all of her Democrat neighbors together and said, 'If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?'

 'Not I,' said the cow.

 'Not I,' said the duck.

 'Not I,' said the pig.

 'Not I,' said the goose.

'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did. The wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain.

'Who will help me reap my wheat?' asked the little red hen.

 'Not I,' said the duck..

'Out of my classification,' said the pig.

'I'd lose my seniority,' said the cow.

'I'd lose my unemployment compensation,' said the goose.

'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did..

At last it came time to bake the bread.

'Who will help me bake the bread?' asked the little red hen.

'That would be overtime for me,' said the cow.

'I'd lose my welfare benefits,' said the duck..

'I'm a dropout and never learned how,' said the pig.

'If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination,' said the goose.

'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen.

She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, 'No, I shall eat all five loaves.'

'Excess profits!' cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi)

'Capitalist leech!' screamed the duck. (Barbara Boxer)

'I demand equal rights!' yelled the goose. (Jesse Jackson)

The pig just grunted in disdain. (Ted Kennedy)

And they all painted 'Unfair!' picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities.

Then farmer Obama said to the little red hen, 'You must not be so greedy.'

'But I earned the bread,' said the little red hen.

'Exactly,' said Barak, 'That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants, but under modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide fruits of their labor with the lazy and idle.'

And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, 'I am so grateful, for now I truly understand.'

But her neighbors were quite disappointed in her, as she never again baked bread because she had joined the 'party' and got her bread free, too. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established.

Individual initiative had died, but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared...so long as there was free bread that 'the rich' pays for.

 EPILOGUE

Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs.

Hillary got $8 million for hers.

That's $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years, repeatedly testified, under oath, that they couldn't remember a thing.

ISN'T THIS A GREAT BARNYARD OR WHAT!?!

Hey, look.  If there's a R&P forum on an air gun site, I accept that and, if I wish to promote a political or religious viewpoint, I post it there.  Don't see anything wrong in what I said.  That sure looked like a political book to me.  By "volatile" I only meant that posts of strongly political or religious nature can lead to some fractious threads, hence the R&P forums.  I'll bet if that book were the Communist Manifesto it would have moved or re-moved, toot sweet! ;-)
