Boz,

What my Whisper was doing too.
Shot fine for the first few hundred pellets then started loosing zero.  I had lock-tited the scope and mount  when I first got it, plus  I'd check the scope and mount every 50  or so shots.  But then like yours, I could shoot  two or three pellets almost into the same hole, and then  it would put them about an inch to the right. At first I thought it was poor trigger pull, but then the next shots would be touching that hole to the right. I'd re-zero and two three shots later hitting right about an inch and  needing re-zeroing again.

I put on an old Tasco I had and now it holds zero fine.

I also noticed the Gamo scope had quite a bit of distortion in the view. Doesn't surprise me for a scope that comes with a gun all for under $250.00.

There are two kinds of pellets,....JSB's and everything else!!!! LOL's Yeah the J's are a tough act to follow from my experience. On barrel cleanning,...a few dry patches with weed-eater line will do the trick. With a new gun, and the more than normal deiselling that will occur during the break-in process,...cleaning a barrel 'squeeky-clean and shiney' seems redundant to me. Just keep shooting it,...and as often as possible!!!!!! Then a dry-patch 'buffing' every 1k rounds or so. Happy Shooting, tjk

Im going to order a Leapers TS series scope, I'm so sick of thumbing with this Gamo scope.  My question is I have the Gamo 1 peice scope mount with 1 inch rings.

This one:   http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/accessory.pl?accessory_id=8

Is it worth it to order the leapers accushot mount with the new scope, or will it basically be the same thing?

thanks for all your help.

The mount height will depend on the objective lens that you want to use. If below 40mm then you are safe with the medium height one-piece mount. Higher than 40mm you need to use the high mount. I own a Leapers 3-9X50 AO R/G Illuminated scope with the Accushot single piece high mount and they work perfectly fine with my Big Cat. You can look at my posts at the gamo gate and see its consistency at 10 yards. Actually the Gamo one-piece mount is decent but I think it's their included scope that is inconsistent. I had no choice but to put it on a cabinet for archiving. Hehehe. Just kidding.

Good luck on your scope selection and happy shooting.

I also discovered the screws in my stock to be SLIGHTLY loose, so I snugged em up.  I ordered 4 tins of JSB Exacts, if these aren't any more accurate ill shoot em through to break in the gun and continue the search.

I got a Big Cat a week ago from Big 5.  It was shooting pretty decent, even though the Gamo scope seems to drift.  Last night (about 800 shots) I could not consistently hit a piece of paper from 13 yards.  It was getting a little sketchy for indoor shooting.  I thought maybe the spring went, even though it sounded and felt right.  So I pulled the stock off, and the spring appeared fine.  The fasteners holding the stock on did not seem tight, but they were not extremely loose either.  After putting the stock on and snugging down the fasteners, I am grouping around the bulls eye again (actually better then ever).  The Gamo scope also seems to be settling down, but the problem may have been the loose stock.

The inside did look well lubricated, and I did not notice any burrs or rough edges.  I ordered a GRT-III trigger, so I will probably lightly lube the pivot points when I put it in.  I have a Honda ST1300, and the Moly lube is used for the shaft drive when you pull the wheel off, so I happen to have some.

Anyhow, this forum has been very helpful, and I am now hopelessly addicted to airguns.

Welcome to the forums Leif........ nice to have you with us...

Glad to hear that Big Cat is shooting well for ya.

It's amazing how a loose stock screw, or worse 2 of em, can change your POI.......  After you install the GRT trigger perhaps you might want to put a drop or 2 of Blue loc-tite on those stock screws before you tighten em up again.....
