middle 70's
« on: January 13, 2007, 03:50:25 PM »
Warm enough today that I took out a couple of C02's and whent to shoot at a friend's land.

Scoping a bird too far to shoot (hoping for a cowbird...but it was a songbird)...out of the corner of my eye there is a brown blurr.  Bird must have been asleep, preoccupied watching me watching it, or just plain unlucky.  Dissappeared in a puff of feathers.

Redtail hawk came in and snatched that Mockingbird off his perch...from what I could see, killed it on impact.

Not much to do with hunting...but certainly was an impressive sight.

Nope...didn't shoot...looked like I did as I was sizing the Mockingbird up in the scope, but that was the moment the hawk snatched him.  Kind f neat to see in 6X, but too small a field of view to be sure what happened unti I got my eye off the scope and looked bare-eyed.

there is a nesting apir of Great Horned owls in this area....subruban, but with some wooded areas, they kind of moved in after Katrina...will leave them alone too, but there is more than one missing foo-foo dog that was probably dinner for them.
