Not a target pistol, but fun too shoot.  Crosman 1377, stock open sights, 3-pumps.

Only mods so far are smash trigger spring for lighter pull and polish sear. I'm trying to get my matches in early this week due to holiday weekend.

Also not a match pistol....used a RWS-Diana P5 springer. Just got it over the week....maybe put 70 shots through her....to see which pellets she likes and to get used to her abit. Still fiddling with the sights.....right now the front sight is right on top of the bullseye at 10 Meters.....not the most optimal position.

Right after a rough zeroing...it was starting to get dark (6:20pm) I did the match. First shot....One Hand grip (Thought I could do it....) and the shot was over 2" over the bullseye due to the light kick.....so went right away to a 2 Hand grip. Much better results... This is the 2nd match of 3 in a row.

Gun: RWS Diana P5 Magnum, Sights: Fiber Optic, Pellet: .177 Crosman WadCutter, Distance: 10 Meters,

Position: Isosceles stance, 2 Hand, Temp: +3C, Cloudy, 20kph wind, SCORE: 72

Pretty good, Stan! and with a new pistol, too!!! Other than that first shoot we're about even.   I found that I concentrate better on one target than multiples.  I wonder what that means?  I shot the 10M better than the 5M....kept them in the black anyway.

I used to shoot competitive .22 rimfire pistol and it all came back shooting this 10M target. Anyway, I was really happy with my 1377 on this match and all I did was a little trigger work based on comments from guys on the Crosman forum.  I figured they'd know what to do. I basically just smashed the trigger spring until it felt right, polished the sear a little, and added some moly paste to the contact spots.

Feels pretty good.  Except I'll probably polish rest of contact surfaces next time. BTW - if you decide to work on your 1377, put safety in FIRE position and carefully remove side plate so you don't lose that TINY little spring and even TINYER ball bearing in the safety.

Thanks Capt....I'm thinking of doing some polishing in that 1377 sear and your idea of smashing the spring sounds good.....if the 1377 have a smoother and lighter trig pull it should be on the same level accuracy-wise with the P5 in the 10 meter distances.  Thanks for letting me know about putting the SAFETY in FIRE position.....are you sure it should be in FIRE and not in SAFE position?  I read on Charlie Da Tuna's webpage about that....I'll have to go read it again on the "1377 sear" section.

Yes, I'm sure about the FIRE position.  I also suggest opening it up in a clean, contained area.  I almost lost the D*** little bearing. LOL
I had to take whole trigger/grip part off to get it back together.  Now I'm thinking about making a trigger shoe or buying one [paint ball shop - maybe] to improve the "feel" some more.  [Wider trigger makes pull seem lighter.]

Smashing the trigger spring takes time.  I did it while I had the assembly apart. I just mashed a few coils with needle nose pliers and checked the trigger "feel" until it felt about right. I polished the sear with some 400 grit wet/dry folded around a short ruler to keep things square. I think the sears are heat tempered, so don't polish to much or you may get into the softer metal just below the surface.

I was amazed at the accuracy of the 1377.  It's not a match pistol - air or rimfire - but, it seems adequate. I'm wondering now just how much I can get out of it.  Fun project!  Let me know if I can help with yours.

Will do, Ron. So far, I've been amazed how easy it is to work on the 1377. [Except for almost losing the tiny safety spring & bearing!!!]  I'd asked the guys on the Crosman forum for the best bang for my buck. Several suggested the spring smash, polish, & moly. It worked well for me.  I've found about 3 pumps provide good accuracy, but I haven't evaluated that variable much yet.
