Times 2!!!! T-cups

We have a trial going on here in BR that involves a punk who decided to shoot into the crowd at a festival on the levee. They charged him with second degree murder but he may get off due to laws stating that there has to be an intended victim. His lawyers are harping on the fact that this fine outstanding citizen wasn't 'actually' shooting at one person in particlular so there for he cannot be charged with 2nd degree murder......

I wonder which group threw that clause into the law???????

2 people were hit by bullets. One has permanent brain damage and the other is in a wheel chair for life.

This fine outstanding citizen may get to go free or just get fined for discharging a fire arm in City limits.

Sucks.

Cute article, in a preaching-to-the-choir way.  The readers' comments were interesting, too.

I doubt Anne will be much help allaying the fears of an alarmed public, especially in the east-coast states; she knows her audience (or readership) and aims her commentary directly at them.  She's not trying to persuade anyone.

The issue du jour in the gun debate is psychological testing.  Some folks say that a percentage of our population is mentally ill, and an inordinate number of those poor souls see guns as a method of redressing grievances.

What say ye about psychological testing as a prerequisite for gun ownership?  Are the mentally ill entitled under the Second Amendment?

I say that the mentally ill are citizens, too.  And if you deprive them of guns, then they will just have to resort to the methods other crazy people use in other countries where gun ownership is restricted - car bombs, improvised explosive devices, home-made nerve gas in subways, kidnapping, etc., not to mention, yes, guns that can still be obtained illegally.  Mentally ill folks with a wish to do harm to others will always still find a way.

As for Ann, yes, I suppose job 1 is to remain a popular syndicated author and sell books.  OK with me, I am  a capitalist.  But she has been a consistent proponent of gun owner's rights for almost as long as I have been reading her work.  Several years ago, she wrote about her experience being mugged, in Washington DC I think, at gunpoint (or was it knife poit?) -- and how helpless and angry that made her feel.  Fortunately for her, it turned out OK.  But I would be very surprised if Ann did not have a CWP now.

She may be preaching to the choir, and if so, I love it when she preaches to me, but she also drives liberals absolutely foaming at the mouth crazy.  So it is easy to see some of them are listening, and reading, too.  Certainly gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to see their reaction to Ann.  You go, girl!!
