WTB an adapter to compress Spring in a Hammerli Titan
« on: April 14, 2009, 02:30:41 PM »
I have put away my Titan until I can get inside it and clean it up and lube it properly.  I haven't the tools or material to make my own adapter.  Due to the fact that I can't work and the wife just bought a car; I need to get a "Low Priced" adapter.  I hope someone out there can help me out.  I just don't want to wear out or break something in my favorite gun and it has seen quite the bucketful of pellets already.

Is your Titan  made by Norica in spain ?
and if it is , what exactly are you looking for, a spring compressor or the adapter used to push the spring  forward  ?
If  is the adapter that you need you can make one from a piece of  3/4  in.  PVC pipe the stronger type  .
I recently worked on a Hammerli storm and I believe the Titan has the same mechanism , that's of course if is the one made by Norica.

Are you in California ?
I can send you some pictures to your email if you want  , it's really easy to make ,  send me a PM with you e-mail .
One caliber for every occacion.

Firstly, ZITRO, thanks for your reply. Sorry I wasn't around last night to answer. I go to bed at about 7:30 or 8PM and can't sleep more than 5-6 hours. Just had some coffee and remembered to check my post.

I will take a look at some Schedule 80, 3/4" PVC pipe, but someone told me that it wouldn't be strong enough the last time that I inquired on this subject, maybe because I hijacked someones post, lol.  I actually need a 3/4" x 6" nipple for my swamp cooler to tubing adapter.  Mine froze and broke off last winter.

Probably is the same as the "Storm", I have heard that the "Hammerli Razor is".  I think Umarex discontinued it because they had too many break-barrels at the time, with the same features.  Now they can charge more for the same gun.

No, my Titan is made in China.  But it is a GREAT SHOOTER!!  I wish I had a Chrony.  Shoots through a 1 1/4in. Hardcover Textbook then into the hard ground so far that I can't find it.  1" plywood at 20 yds. like it was paper.  Likes CPL's and I like the price of them; I can get a 1,000 shipped priority mail from Mac1 (also in CA) for less than $25, in two days.  JSB Exacts 8.4gr shoot a slightly tighter group.  RWS Superdomes 8.4gr are the only pellets I've found that the Titan doesn't like (4 1/2' groups).  Will trade them for 480ct JSB Diabolo Basics, JSB Exacts 8.4gr or the new JSB Exact Express pellets.  I haven't shot over 15 of the Superdomes, probably more like 10.

The trigger assembly is what actually holds the Spring Guide from bounding out of the tube. The Trigger Assy. is held in place by TWO cross-pins (the same pins that hold any other spring back).

So, the tool has to be hollow; slightly less (meaning I can sand it on the O.D. if it is too tight) than 1" outside diameter.; needs two groves,1/4" wide X 2" long) pretty close to 180° apart, to clear the two (3/16th's inch? I am writing from memory) cross pins; another groove (3/8-1/2wide)" on top, 90° from either of the first 2 grooves, this one is to clear the Trigger Assembly; and finally it has to be 2 3/4'" to 3" in overall length.

Tool has has to be strong along its axis.  I don't have access to a Mill & Lathe anymore.  It is a 15 minute job for me if I did, including set-up.  I was a Machinist for 16 years.

Yes I have a good Spring Compressor melloroadman thank you.

Thanks for your, always welcome, input Gene.  You still haven't told me how to get the ugly MB off my Titan.  How much would you charge me for a MB and Shroud, like you had on the Titan you Built up?  You show it off again in yel01z06's Post, [just to make me drool I think. lol] below this one.  What a Beauty.  PM me if you want to.

I am going to ask the wife if I can purchase it today.  Wish me luck.

I think this will be her 1st response ~ "Why do you need another gun, especially one just like you already have!!"

I don't remember who....but someone posted a photo of a home-made adapter to press in the Titan's spring.   It's just a small block of wood with 4 bolts going thru it and sticking out the other side...I'm assuming the compressor will press on the flat part of the block of wood and the 4 bolts would extend into the Titan's spring tube/cavity?  I also have a powerful Titan....and if something breaks in her one of these days....I'll need to build one of those blocks.  Hope this helps....
