I like the older Shadow 1000 with the simple steel barrel. Before that, well, depends upon what you're looking for. They made a nice, entry level match rifle, the 126, which was maybe Gamo's best gun. For mid-weight hunting, the CF20 underlever got a nice review on Brad's Airguns.net site. I'm sure there were probably others that are better still, but I don't think Gamo had much of a presence in the US before the Shadow/220/440 series was introduced. Aside from the kind of bulky muzzle brake, the CFX is a pretty decent design.
