West Lake Air Pistol breakbarrel. $15 + shipping PayPal OK
« on: April 18, 2009, 07:32:12 AM »

I have a Chinese break barrel pistol. It's marked West Lake. I'd like $15 + shipping.

I PREFER PAYPAL. But I will take a USPS postal money order if necessary. USA buyers only. Send me a private message if interested or post here.

Is $15 too much to ask?

Just wondering. :-) I'm not sure what to do with it, but it's an ok little plinker. Would benefit from a new o-ring or reconditioning of it. And of course, a lube-tune would probably help it along. I just am spending more time with my 1300.

Michael,

$15 might be too much to ask for that particular model as it's pretty cheap to get one brand new, especially if you watch for sales or use a coupon.  I picked one up a few months back for $10 + shipping from Compasseco.  Now granted that was a short term deal, but I see them now going for $30 with free shipping plus they'll throw in another for $10 extra.  You'd have to almost pay someone to take it off of your hands in order to compete with that kind of price.

My advice?  Use it as a guinea pig for learning something interesting such as carving a new stock or any old project for which you don't want to a good gun.  I'm going to use mine as the test bed for learning how to make leather breech and piston seals as well as carving a new stock.  At some point, I'll try out different ways to fabricate a better set of sights that won't cause the pellets to hit 5" high when shooting at 10 meters :-)

BTW, I don't mean to give the impression that I dislike the little Westlake pistol.  On the contrary, it's one of my favorite guns because it's built like a tank.  The think will probably outlast me.  Plus, it's just got so much potential (nowhere to go but up, you know).  I am looking forward to seeing how much I can improve it.
