Marauder is Tomorrow...
« on: April 21, 2009, 06:36:38 AM »
I know I probably don't need to remind you guys but we are down to less than 24 hours until the Marauder is available for reservation! There has been a ton of interest in this gun so I am not sure how long the 100 will last. I just wanted to remind everyone so those that want to get in on this will have a chance.

Please don't forget to screen your zip code to be sure we can ship to your location. You can screen your zip here...

http://www.crosman.com/airguns/reserve-the-marauder

That will also be the page you need to be on at noon tomorrow. I will put up a post here and on the other airgun forums the minute it is up.

Good luck guys and thanks again for all the interest in this gun.

Joshua

Joshua,,,

I'm just curious..... are these first 100 rifles going to be any different than the ones that will follow ????   Pyramydair is going to be selling them for $100 cheaper than Crosman is selling the first 100 for,,,,,,  is there any difference in the rifles or is it simply an opportunity to get a rifle a month sooner than you could get it at Pyramydair or some other dealers ????

These will be the same rifle, these will all be productions guns. This is really an opportunity to get one early and if your a collector to get in on the early serial numbers.  I don't think Pyrymyd will be a hundred cheaper though. I think they will be at 499.00 and we are at 529.00.

Ok, thanks Joshua.  I wasn't trying to "put you on the spot",,,, I was just curious.   For some reason I thought Crosmans price was $100 more but you cleared it up...

Thanks again for your prompt reply.

That is why I asked the question on the Yellow.  Would have been cool to have some special 1 of 100 intro gun for those that are getting in line for the first 100.  Even if it were and extra $50 or $100 added, just for the keepsake possibly and/or collector value.   Then again if that happens they may lose the feedback aspect as they collectors usually dont USE the guns.  So the feedback on those initial would not be there.  Who knows...

Where is the Marauder Carbine...  :p   hahaha, just kidding !

I feel sorry for the first 100 people, I mean, "customers" who bought the gun. Wouldn't wanna be a guinea pig. I'll consider buying one after the initial mass hysteria, all the kinks have been fixed, and the price has dropped 30%.

Thanks Josh for keeping the GTA up on Crosmans Marauder's release date. Even though it is a new model Crosman does stand behind there products and I am sure if anyone buys one and has a problem it will be taken care of.

The main point is that Crosman has entered into a highly competitive market with reasonably price PCP's and continues to improve on them. 3 years ago you could not touch a PCP for what Crosman is selling them for today. I am thank full because this kind of marketing makes the air gun community grow and grow..

Just my two cents....:)

Well, I don't mind being an early adopter or beta tester. The premium paid for being an early buyer isn't that large at the moment.  Problems can be fixed, although depending on what they are, it could take a while. In my view, the only showstopper would be a safety issue, such as a below-pressure-spec air reservoir.  And that might happen at any point in production.

Besides, how else are you wait-and-see guys gonna get tried and tested equipment without someone else being the guinea pigs? :)

I'm with RR on this one, or at least I made the reservedlist. Stupid thing gave me a scripterror message the first time. I had delayed an important teleconference until 9:05 (Pacific) for this reason. Fortunately, it went through after I filled it all out again.

I have put off PCP as many ways as I could. Almost jumped at the Disco, but "too loud" for the neighborhood backed me down again.

When I saw the shroud on the Marauder, I knew I was a goner. I am betting they go over the first release pretty well to insure a good buzz on the street from the git-go.

And yup, they will make changes as they go, and later ones will have refinements, etc. That's cool. Maybe I'll get one of them, too, and I know they will be cheaper from PA.

I am delighted that an American company is listening to the market and giving a darn. This orderis my two thumbs up, thank you Josh and Crosman (and Gaylord, too). I am puzzled by the nay-sayers whocast doubts and speculation on Marauder, and Crosman, the moment the thing was announced, just as they did with theDisco. And I am gonna shoot the heck out of my low-serial, first-ever PCP.

I don't think it's a case of being a "nay sayer" or "casting doubt"  but rather a simple case of being cautious based on the PCP track record of Crosman with the Disco.  I will be the first to give Crosman credit where credit is due.  Their introduction of the Disco was truly a great thing for the sport of air gunning as it brought the cost of PCP's down to the level where the majority of air gunners could afford them.  That move by Crosman was very bold  and it did in fact have very positive effects for the sport of air gunning and I give them a lot of credit for that.

However,,, lets face it, the quality of the Disco was "hit or miss"  when it first came out and to this day it's still that way.  You can get one that's great and very accurate or you can get one that has one or more problems that effect accuracy and consistency.  Granted,  most of the problems that existed on the disco could be "fixed" by owners who knew how to work on their rifles and correct the defects, but I just don't think that you should have to "mod" a rifle or "fix" problems in order to get it to shoot straight and accurate. I realize that the cost of the Disco was relatively small, but even for that price I still don't think you should have to spend extra money and buy a rifle that's been "prepped" in order to get a good shooter.  Lets be realistic,,, not every air gunner has the tools or the expertise or the desire to have to take a new PCP out of the box and have to "work on it" to get it to shoot straight.  Most air gunners just want to take it out of the box and shoot, and you know what,,,, there's nothing wrong with that expectation.

I'm not knocking Crosman or the Marauder.  Matter of fact I like the design of the rifle, it's advertised capabilities and I'll probably wind up buying one for hunting.  If it winds up living up to it's advertising I think it's going to be a great rifle, but you can't blame some people for being cautious with their money.  $529 dollars is not a lot of money for a quality magazine fed PCP,, we all know that,,, but I also know that it still remains that $529 dollars is still a lot of money, at least I think so, so if I spend it I'd like to spend it wisely and be careful with it.

I think there's a big difference between being a "nay sayer" or one who "casts doubts" and just being careful with ones money....  I'm assuming I was included in that "definition" and I resent it.  If I am wrong then I apologize.

Jeff

I didn't point that at anyone here today, and certainly not you!

If you go back to the original Crosman posts about the Marauder, both here on GTA and elsewhere, there were several folk saying it must be Chinese, it is all a rip-off, and other ungenerous things about Crosman and a gun they hadn't seen yet. And we did see all those same claims about the Disco. And none of them were from you, or from anyone posting in the current thread that I know of (I don't track stuff like that).

I would be disappointed if you took this personally and perhaps I should have re-read before I hit Submit. We can continue the explanation off line if necessary.
