I don't think it's a case of being a "nay sayer" or "casting doubt" but rather a simple case of being cautious based on the PCP track record of Crosman with the Disco. I will be the first to give Crosman credit where credit is due. Their introduction of the Disco was truly a great thing for the sport of air gunning as it brought the cost of PCP's down to the level where the majority of air gunners could afford them. That move by Crosman was very bold and it did in fact have very positive effects for the sport of air gunning and I give them a lot of credit for that.
However,,, lets face it, the quality of the Disco was "hit or miss" when it first came out and to this day it's still that way. You can get one that's great and very accurate or you can get one that has one or more problems that effect accuracy and consistency. Granted, most of the problems that existed on the disco could be "fixed" by owners who knew how to work on their rifles and correct the defects, but I just don't think that you should have to "mod" a rifle or "fix" problems in order to get it to shoot straight and accurate. I realize that the cost of the Disco was relatively small, but even for that price I still don't think you should have to spend extra money and buy a rifle that's been "prepped" in order to get a good shooter. Lets be realistic,,, not every air gunner has the tools or the expertise or the desire to have to take a new PCP out of the box and have to "work on it" to get it to shoot straight. Most air gunners just want to take it out of the box and shoot, and you know what,,,, there's nothing wrong with that expectation.
I'm not knocking Crosman or the Marauder. Matter of fact I like the design of the rifle, it's advertised capabilities and I'll probably wind up buying one for hunting. If it winds up living up to it's advertising I think it's going to be a great rifle, but you can't blame some people for being cautious with their money. $529 dollars is not a lot of money for a quality magazine fed PCP,, we all know that,,, but I also know that it still remains that $529 dollars is still a lot of money, at least I think so, so if I spend it I'd like to spend it wisely and be careful with it.
I think there's a big difference between being a "nay sayer" or one who "casts doubts" and just being careful with ones money.... I'm assuming I was included in that "definition" and I resent it. If I am wrong then I apologize.
