winter projects....seals
« on: April 22, 2009, 03:21:36 PM »
Ok the weathers turning to cr_p...So its time to rebuild 4 guns over the winter..
living way out here its going to take time to get the bits..so I don't want to have
4 guns in bits from one end to the other of the house waiting for parts....
So I'm hopeing yers can help  with some seal sizes so I can pre order before I start....
The guns are...

CFX...krals in fact but I will take the risk that the seals are the same size.

Remington genesis. "crosman Tac77"

Hatsan mod 75

Pulled the .177 kral apart....Why this thing shoots so nicely I have no idea...
dam its got some big clearances....2mm gap between the guide & spring..
it should really benefit from new guides...I intend to sleave the new giudes with
Tyvar...to try and reduce as much steel to steel contact as possable...
make a start on the new guides tomorrow.................

Now just wait for the JM seals to arrive...2 seals & molly paste...$74 NZ later

And also found it had a broken stock around the one of the front mounting bolts...
must have done wounders for the accurey...

heres a pic of the inards of a Kral underleaver....hard to tell it from a CFX....

Thought I would try the old "fix / fixx" aproce to piston
buttoning...should be interesting....
have reduced the clearance from .85 to .1 or .15
depending where you measure chambers not quite round....

I think when he braised the piston he put one ring in front and one on the rear looks good make sure to let us know how it is when it is all back together

Very smooooooooth...but dam is it quiet..must have halfed
the noise....even the cocking is so smooth..no noise just a click
when the sear engages.....But I replaced the breach O-rings
with the same size that it had but the larger one around the breach
is leaking..can't see why..same Dia & section ,maybe the old one leaked to.
Got a bigger section one should solve the prob..saturdays job...

FOOT NOTE....Pulled the Remington Genesis apart...Those things are VERY
well built...Spring guides are a perfect fit...The piston has a machined
band front & rear that is a 5 thou fit in the cyclinder.... One strange thing
is the top hat is a great dam weight 1" dia 1 ,1/4"  long and has a 1/4" long
spigot/pin that the spring fits over...not seen that system before....
The cyclinder is  1.130" ID...interesting wee shooter inside..
can't do alot in there really...debur / polish / lube & assemble..
another sat job....Then the Hatsans turn

Glad to see Kral lives.  Sure wish they would reimport them here in the States.  Lot of gun for the money.
