Hey Dave,

Just curious, what kind of gun, scope and mount??  Does the barrel have any droop?

be careful when shimming! If you shim too much you can bend the tube or crush it. you can use 35mm film cut to fit the bottom of the rear ring. what you really want to do is shim the scope so that it is looking further down. so you shim the rear ring. I would first try to get back to optical center then switch the fron t and rear sites and see if that helps. you really don't want the scope turrets maxed out. How far are you trying to shoot to start? 30 yds is a good middle of the road distance depending on the gun. I hope this is making sense. you want your scope to be looking at where you hit, so if it is opticaly centered and you are shooting 5 inches low, then keep aiming at the same point as the original and shim the scope so that it begins to look 5 inches low, that should put you in the ball park.

Like what scope, gun, mount, and range.  If you do need to shim, there's a good article by Bob in the Library.  BTW, something doesn't sound right to me.

Try with another scope if you have one. If it’s not the scope, then most probably you have a barrel droop problem. I had one before; the gun shot about 8” lower. After bending the barrel it still shot 2” low. Though problem was fixed with Beeman’s 5039 adjustable mount, I sold that gun.
