I have an old Sheridan Blue Streak .20 cal pump I bought new when I was 12 years old, boy was that a long time ago, and I recently put a Golden Antler 3x9x32 scope on it. I sighted the gun in using Beeman FTS and Sheridan Domes and got that little gun shooting great groups.
Anyway, was puttering around the yard today and kept seeing starlings landing in the tops of the trees above the bird feeders. I ran down to the basement and grabbed the Winchester 1000XS but then put it back and reached for the Blue Streak. I figured this would be the perfect time to see what it could do.
Snuck out the bilco door, peeked around the corner of the house and sure enough there they were. Picked out a bird with a clear line of sight, crosshairs placed, squeezed,, one dead starling fell out of the tree. Distance was 20 yards, hit him right in the middle of the chest. All the birds took off of course, but they came back in about 10 minutes.
Long story short...........wound up getting 3 one shot kills with the gun. The Golden Antler worked great. I have a hard time pumping the gun due to a bad rotator cuff joint in my left shoulder and the fact that the scope mounted on it makes it awkward to pump, so I probably won't shoot it alot, but it's nice to know the combo works so well. I can't believe that gun is as old as it is and still shoots so great. I did take good care of it but I still can't believe how well it shoots for a 38 year old gun that never had anything done to it. One of these days I may sand and re-stain the stock, although it's really not all that bad.
