B-40 : Does anyone here own one, or has shot one?

I like the TX looks of the B-40. I'm just not sure I want to spend $250 for a 12fpe Chinese gun. Although I am tempted due to the shrouded barrel and $30 walnut stock option.
So does anyone have one of these beasties? How do they shoot?
The review on Best Air says his shoots CPL's @ 830 and CPH @ 730....that's just a hair over 12fpe for each. Of course, the blurb on Best Air says it shoots 1050fps.....uh huh.  :)   Perhaps that is for a felt cleaning pellet?
Just curious. Now that I've been shooting a well-tuned B-19 carbine, I kinda like springers again. Might have to go for another one! The B-40 with it's underlever and shrouded barrel looks likely. I just dont want to have to tear it apart and spend on it to make it shoot decently. Maybe I should wait on a used tuned one to show up in the classifieds? :-)

I've had my hands in them and found them to be very solid guns but I've also heard that some won't group worth a darn.
Breach tends to be too tight and necks the pellets down too much in my experience. Got good groups out of it after correcting that but nothing that I would consider stellar.
Velocity after tune was low 900's as I recall using 7.9 grn CPL's.
I have high expectations for that kind of money and think that you could get more for your money with a B26. Just my opinion though.

Hello, I have a B-40 in 177cal. and I really really love it! When I first recived it the loading port was tight and the trigger was alittle to light for me. I done alittle work on the loading port and then the trigger. It shot GREAT!!! But after about 2000 rounds the main spring broke. After that I decided to get me a JM spring and a Hornet seal. I used the (old HW99,R6 power spring) I am a toolmaker so making my owm guides and top hat(front spring guide) wasnt a problem. (once I figured out the right stack up) I also done some other machine work to tighten up the tolerances a bit. It probably wasnt nessery but I did it anyway. Well after the tune I shoot about 200 rounds then checked the groups. Im getting .250 groups @ 30yrds with a rest.
I used my friends chrony and it is doing alittle over 900fps usind 7.9gr cpls. I also bought a used TX200 stock and put on it. Im very happy with my B-40. But I have been seeing where some guys are not having muck luck with theres. Im now thinking of getting one in 22cal and doing the same to it. Hopfully this was some help.   Jason

So basically, you have the barrel, trigger, tube, & piston left from the original B40 then?  And everything that is an original B40 part has been reworked. It's sorta like saying, "I love my Pinto after I rebuilt it into a Cobra." :)
Thanks guys, for the money they want for a B40, I think I'll pass. I don't have the spare time to put into rebuilding a gun just to get it to shoot decently. Or have to replace the mainspring after only four tins of pellets.
