BSA Lightning .22 XL won't cock????

Anyone have ideas why?  I have put less than a 100 pellets through it so far.

Hey Joe, you should have been a doctor.   Apparently I have bought in to the Sportsmans Whse "as is" inventory.  The store at Lafayette was going out of business and made me an offer that was too good to be true.  I guess it wasn't such a good deal after all.

mike, i am only guessing without actually seeing the gun but sounds like you may have a broken spring.  will the barrel pull down and it will not cock or can you only break the barrel part of the way?..... i don't know what you paid for it but if you can afford it, send it to david slade and have a theoben gas ram conversion done to it......its worth the extra $$$.

Hey Roger, I think you hit the nail on the head.  It pulls down and acts like it is about to ketch but doesn't.  I would have thought it would have lasted longer than it did though; less than 30 days and no more than a 100 pellets.  Shucks, I just got my AofA order today and was still working on setting up the scope.  The funny thing is I bought it with the plan to eventually put in a thoben gas ram; guess it will happen a little sooner than I'd planned.

i have some experience with sportsman's warehouse......i looked at the bsa lightnings when they were closing them out and everyone of the guns on display had been cocked.  they were just sitting there with the springs compressed for god only knows how long.  the sales person said "no problem" and DRY fired the gun to uncock it.....I FREAKED!....said no thank-you and walked out.  your gun may have been damaged by one of their fruity sales people before you bought it....... :emoticon:

Joe, it has been said that "Laughter is the Best Medicine".  I agree with that wholeheartedly; and YOU make me laugh, Joe.  Even more so when I get to hear that thick New York accent
