Just when you think your high enough
« on: May 02, 2009, 11:09:26 AM »
To take the shot, this one degraded my pit value.I was taken aim at a bird had my sites on him and looked at the barrel and said ,i think i'm high enough, pulled the trigger and all i heard  that pellet wizzing away upward toward the sky.Lesson learned.I was using the 460 mag in 22.

You got it all wrong. Your supposed to shoot the bird and grill it, NOT shoot the grill.....

I wish that I could say that the same thing( not a grill)  has not happened to me....it has.  I took a shot at a squirrel in the back yard the other day and was I surprised when he only looked around at the sound.  I fired again from another angle and nailed him D.R.T.   Curious why the miss,  I looked around and found that I had shot the privacy fence.  Reminded myself not to fo that in the future.  Next time the squirrel may run off and not give me a second chance.  Good lluck with the dead grill.

Don't feel bad,,,,,, yesterday it was raining here but I went to the duck farm I shoot at to shoot starlings,,, my plan was to just sit inside my truck and shoot through the open driver door window.  All went fine and I took a bunch of shots and nailed a few birds but then it happened.......   I went to take a shot at a bird on the ground, put the crosshairs on his chest, pulled the trigger and heard a sharp CRASH.  I shot out my driver door rear view mirror  :(

I can't tell you how stupid I felt,, and there was no way I was gonna post my stupidity on GTA but then I saw your post and I suddenly felt better  :) so I figured what the heck I'll fess up to my stupid mistake and perhaps it'll bring a chuckle to someone.

Anyway, thanks for making your post.... you made me feel alot better  !!!   :)

Yeah,,,, it wouldn't have happened with any of my springers as those rifles are to long   but I was using my 18 inch barreled .22 Talon and the rifle was just short enough to fit between me and the rear view mirror  :(

After I heard the blast  and looked a the broken glass and hole in the plastic mirror housing it was only then that I realized how lucky I was that the pellet hadn't come back and struck me   :o

Can't wait to find out how much the repair is gonna cost me !!

All hell Danny,...just slap a little JB Weld on the handle, and everything will be hunky-dory. My biggest FU to date has been to inadvertantly shoot a pellet about 3" from my hall/bathroom sky-light. Yikes,... Believe me,...Velux is mighty proud of their $#it!!!! Glad no one got hurt, tjk

I forgot about this!!! [ I dont know how.. ] My sweet wife and I pulled into our driveway last summer, and I had my Daisy 15xt co2 pistol in the truck. There was a cat sitting under our travel trailer about 60 ft. away. My wife takes the pistol [ only wanting to scare the cat away from her chickens ] carfully, slowly aiming, and POP! The cat goes running off.She said "Oh my gosh, I just shot the poor kitty!!!" I said" Nope, you just sot the trailer. Animals dont sound like that when you shoot them!" I was amazed at the dent the bb put in the trailer at that distance. We both just laughed.

I'll say the darn scope on the rifle's fault..got the cross hair right on target and squeeze then prakkkkkk squirrel bolted away. Tried to close window but gets caught at the bottom. I noticed a half moon dent that I have to straighten with a pliers to get the window to close all the way. Luckily I was using daisy wadcutter which did not rip the aluminum bottom lip of my window. Now if I have to snipe from the window i rest the muzzle brake on a cardboard box 2 inch high that the bottom of the window lip. Don't tell anyone!!!
