new developments in my 2nd gun saga
« on: January 22, 2007, 04:04:25 PM »

Well as I prepared to begin saving for my second gun, the R9 goldfinger in .22 a very interesting thing happened. I rarely do work on the side, the stress and hassle usually isnt worth it even at $xx/hr, mainly because I dont see the money anyway, no matter how much I make it goes straight to the bank and god knows where from there. So I decided that it was time for a little "me" gift and started skimming money off the top! Then along came the local graveyard saying they needed to computerize to keep up with the records....yay for me. Needless to say, my available funds have increased, they signed a contract and gave a $xxxx.00 advance to get started which I'm splitting with the wife, although she thinks shes getting the entire advance worth $xxx.00...sneaky i know. Add that to the $xxx I had already skimmed and now im into PCP territory in less than two more weeks. So, the question is, are PCPs worth the money, I think I would have to go with the hand pump, how are those? Should I get the Talon SS and if so the optional 24" barrel? The noise is not an issue. OR should I stay the course and complete the journey of obtaining the R9?

...you got it all wrong, get the R9 for yourself and the Talon for your wife.  She will get tired of pumping it up and you will be left with both.....geez, do I have to spell it out for you guys EVERYTIME?

Nah, that's not the way my luck runs.  She'd be more likely to claim the R9 as hers, and then proceed to out shoot me with my own gun!  If your wives ever do this, guys, DON'T make a big deal about it!  There's nothing quite as crushing to the ego as having her respond with " but, dear, it was so easy, what's the big deal?".  Worst of it is, she'll mean it.  My wife had never shot a rilfle in her life.  When I "taught" her to shoot my CFX last summer, she proceeded to  shoot 1/4" to 1/2" groups at twenty yards, one after another.  I cosole myself by telling me that she didn't have to unlearn any old shooting habits.  And that she's a natural.  So just be warned!  Later.

.

When I first started, I was into it a couple of weeks when my wife wondered why any grown man would want to shoot a gun, never mind aa pellet gun.

I let her shoot, and she put 3 of them in a 1" bullseye at 20 yardsfirst time up.

She never bothered to do it again, and still thinks I could use my time for something more sensible, like gardening... :p :p
