Shadow scope stop question
« on: January 23, 2007, 02:12:14 PM »
I was going to mount the scope I got for my Shadow 1000 with Loctite tonight and when I pulled the screw from the factory scope stop (just a small steel tab instead of the composite plastic and metal one) to add Loctite, I noticed the screw had galled threads. There's a 3/16" hole 1/2" behind the threaded hole for the stop screw. Can I eliminate the stop and just use the stop pin that comes with the Accushot scope mount in the 3/16' hole?

It would certainly help with positioning as I have the scope slid as far back as it can go now. The extra 1/2" would position the scope more evenly in the mount. Thanks!

Not totally certain I'm following your description, Ric, but if you have an Accushot mount with integral stop pin, you shouldn't need the extra stop.  One of the reasons I went with Accushot mounts in the first place was to be able to get rid of the scope stop.  HTH.

Dave, that's all I wanted to know; it's just that most other Gamo's I've seen had a big, rectangular metal and plastic scope stop and mine just came with a little curved piece of metal screwed to the top of the barrel. Thanks for the help for this newbie!

Just make sure you don't get the stop pin to far into the tube or it will hit the piston and you can't cock the rifle.
