Good afternoon,

You are receiving this email because you signed up at WhiteHouse.gov. My staff and I plan to use these messages as a way to directly communicate about important issues and opportunities, and today I have some encouraging updates about health care reform.

The Vice President and I just met with leaders from the House of Representatives and received their commitment to pass a comprehensive health care reform bill by July 31.

We also have an unprecedented commitment from health care industry leaders, many of whom opposed health reform in the past. Monday, I met with some of these health care stakeholders, and they pledged to do their part to reduce the health care spending growth rate, saving more than two trillion dollars over the next ten years -- around $2,500 for each American family. Then on Tuesday, leaders from some of America's top companies came to the White House to showcase innovative ways to reduce health care costs by improving the health of their workers.

Now the House and Senate are beginning a critical debate that will determine the health of our nation's economy and its families. This process should be transparent and inclusive and its product must drive down costs, assure quality and affordable health care for everyone, and guarantee all of us a choice of doctors and plans.

Health care reform can't come soon enough. We spend more on health care than any country, but families continue to struggle with skyrocketing premiums and nearly 46 million are without insurance entirely. It is a priority for the American people and a pillar of the new foundation we are seeking to build for our economy.

Please do not disturb the great nation we have right now.. And if at all possible,, please do not bring your socialist agenda any further into my world.. I live in Texas and you are a burden on our society.. If at all possible please, read the Constitution that you swore to uphold in your inauguration. You do not have the right to change AMERICA.. You do not have the right to nationalize the banks or the auto industries. Also you sure as hell don't have the right to tell Chrysler to cut its advertising budget... What you do have the right to do is protect us from the foreign activists , close our borders and stop the influx of illegal's into our country that feed on the same health care system that you are trying to reform... Maybe if ya looked at it in that since ya might have a way to save a dollar or 2... NOOOO that would take away from the federal tax dollars that come in and your trillions of dollars of debt that your spending would not get funded... So please refrain from sending these left wing propaganda emails to my email address.. Cuz I didn't vote for ya and I ain't on your side of the street... Your a Nutt case in my book and I think ya should be prosecuted for crimes against the constitution..

Geeez, Radall.  You are certainly on several new government lists now, and none of them good.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble.  You may recall, but perhaps not, that I mentioned that the framework of socialized medicine with single-provider, national health care was buried in the depths of that first emergency bail-out bill.  Remember?  The one with thousands of pages that got voted on hours after it was submitted, and before anyone could even read the documents?  The federal bureaucracy for tracking your medical care, including diagnoses, doctor visits, procedures, and costs is already in place.  IBM and GE are the major players (have you seen their upbeat commercials on TV?).  The SIEU (Service Industry Employee Union) is fully on board as are the "Blues" and a very few of the major insurance companies.  

All of what you see now is widow dressing and show.  The USA is going to have single payer, government subsidized (ie, tax-payer funded), unionized national health care.  BTW, the "Medicare" tax will now apply to all earned income, and any employer-provided health care benefits are going to be taxed at a high enough rate that most businesses will be scurrying to drop any health care benefits for their employes.  "Here - take the money we used to spend on your plan and find your own medical insurance.  We simply can't afford the premiums and taxes any more.  And don't worry, under the new government regulations, the insurance companies have to accept you!"  Except that the insurance companies are, in fact, going to be owned and run by your government -- kind of like the banks, mortgage companies, GM and Chrysler.

Socialized medicine is the MOTHER of all government entitlements.  It is the Holy Grail of government control over about 1/7th of the nation's GDP and almost 100% of all of your lives. It is going to make the deficits run by Social Security and Medicare look like chump change.  American health care is about to be reduced to two tiers -- the lowest common denominator, government health care (think of it as "KennedyCare", a sort of medical welfare), and a very small, exclusive, private sector of medicine where you can still be seen quickly and have top quality care as long as you can pay cash up front, until our government makes that illegal too (somewhat unlikely, as the politicians and the very wealthy will always find a way exempt themselves from what is best for the rest of the folks.

So in summary, in addition to extending control over the environment, energy, banking, mortgages and home prices, transportation and fuel costs, the "state" will very soon have control over your health, and with it, over your very life and death.  They will have to both restrict unlimited access to care and impose crushing new taxes to fund it. They will dictate the terms of what medical care is going to be appropriate and covered by the "system", and what drugs and procedures you can and can't have, and how long you will have to wait to get it.  It will be highly regulated by a huge bureaucracy. It will be provided largely by unionized health care providers, many (most?) of whom may not even be doctors. And those doctors who do see the patients who make it through the triage and waiting process will have to accept a fraction of what they used to be paid for providing the same care and will have to see huge volumes of patients.   For new patients, good doctors are very quickly going to be as hard to find as say, oh, maybe .380 hand gun ammo.

Tommy, I want to personally thank you for the translation of what is going on in our lives. Without good people like yourself many of us would not understand or even see what our government is doing to our lives and our children's future.
