Does anyone know about these new fangled things? I would be nice if there was better/real test info on these "special" pellets:)
I saw a plastic pellet post and prompted me to look at these RWS pellets
http://www.airgunsbbguns.com/RWS_177_Caliber_Hyper_Velocity_Pellet_p/rws-2137509.htm I am not a big fan of too lighter pellets had some spring troubles in the past , also have never found them(light pellets) to be accurate and therefor of no real use to me. I did not see a weight listed for these RWS pellets has anyone got a weight on them or even a test crony? I normally stick to what works but would like to experiment with them if they were in the 8gr range?
My theory on light pellets.. I do not think they provide enough back pressure for airgun to operate effectively and on the flip side too much weight is also bad accuracy... either way it will ultimately break your spring or other damage in a fairly short time. I have personally experimented and broke a spring using to heavier pellets one time!! I see it like a question.. how many times can you dry fire an air gun before it breaks !?
I do think its a good idea the no lead and all, but wonder if there is another motive behind this no lead thing, like sell more air guns? Or maybe they are phasing out the lead altogether?
Years ago "like30+" I played around with .177 steel darts and found that the longer heavier English ones worked better, I have no idea if they still even make them:) I did not weigh them but recall them being lightish guess around 7gr or less and no resistance in barrel..Oh ya and the spring broke in that gun also a BSA meteor hmm! and yes I knew that steel would ruin the barrel , I was trying to make it smooth by using the steel darts LOL:)
I wish I could come up with a cool pellet idea and make millions, gell filled, mercury core, hot dipped gramophone needles, Bbs rolled in rubber? Oh I forgot mercury is not cool anymore!! Any comments welcome. Tony.
