Avanti Diopter (peep) sight

I just ordered an Avanti micrometer diopter sight from Daisy.  Daisy's normal price for the item is $35.  Other online retailers (Pyramyd, etc.) sell the exact same item for $60.  For reference, the sight I'm talking about is Daisy part # DY5996, and can been seen at Pyramyd here: http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Daisy_Avanti_Precision_Rear_Diopter_Sight/1212

The diopter sight attaches to a standard scope rail so it would have use on many other airgun models besides the Daisy's.

It's not just Pyramyd that sells the sight for $60.  That was the price I found at several online retailers, nobody had lower prices.  I was quite surprised to find it direct from Daisy at a much lower cost.  Daisy's S&H charge seemed reasonable too ... $8.  Included in that $8 shipping charge were a few additional parts from Daisy - a new globe front sight and barrel weight ($10), a match sling ($11), and a sling mounting swivel ($2).  I am buying these parts to upgrade a Daisy 953 rifle.  Pyramyd had the best price on that 953 rifle (minus the accessories) - $65 for the rifle after applying a 10% off coupon.  Plus about $10 S&H.

I couldn't find these sights on the Daisy web site.  Did I manage to somehow miss them or are they available by phone orders only?  Thanks.

I wander if they can get more money for these parts if they were easier to find ;  )

neat idea, now playing devils advocate..............say one were to install the diopter site on one of the b3 project guns in my shop; that done, what ideas are out there as far as a front sight that would match the height of the daisy diopter sight ?

Yeah, their website is pretty poor IMHO.  I couldn't find the sights there either.  They do have a "Contact Us" link on their webpages, and I just called the 800 number that was listed there and asked for "Customer Service/Parts Sales".  Then I just said "What are my options for sight upgrades for a Daisy 953?" and they took over from there.

what ideas are out there as far as a front sight that would match the height of the daisy diopter sight ?

How does the front sight attach on your rifle?  If it's a standard 3/8" dovetail, then you could get a Lyman #17 Globe Sight.  Those come in many different heights.  You would need to figure out the height you need.  You could also just ask Daisy - I'm sure they can tell you the height of the Avanti sight and the matching front globe sight.  That might be all the info you need, unless your rifle is significantly different than the Daisy (say your scope rail is much higher or something like that).

Thanks for heads up on price i just ordered one:)  There is no parts web site.. you have to call the phone number and they email you need, or you can order what you need on the phone, really nice to deal with:) Tony
