Looking for info on .22 spring gun

Hello to all of you folks in the airgun world.I need your help please. I last had a airgun 30# yrs. ago and am looking for a med priced .22 spring gun that I can have tuned or has a true adjustable trigger with a light clean break.In my mid 60's now and the eyes are fading so I will have to have a scope,thats a given.I no there's good new stuff out there at a modest price and I just need some help wading through this sales jungle out there. There all the biggest-bestess- fastess, and I have been out of that loop a long time.
I could use your honest savy expertise.

If you look on the Classifieds right now, there is a B26-2 with scope that fits your bill perfectly. The high comb can require some modification, or not, depending, but that is a very nice combination. For my money this is the best China built gun out there, unless these new B25s prove differently. Trigger is a thing of joy even to trigger Nazis.

The trigger is a Chinese copy of the German Rekord trigger. It is not identical, but close enough for many of us. It can be made even closer with some modifications. If you Search "B26" on this forum, you will find a lot of information on this rifle.

I'm 61 and just getting back into air guns myself. I bought the Quest 800X combo from Pyramid.  With the 10% discount it's $115 delivered to your door.  It's a decent, inexpensive sporter - accurate and powerful for hunting, etc.  Fitted with a GRT-III trigger it shoots really well.

It's a B-19 made in China to Crosman specs.  Good thing is that parts are readily available from Crosman and inexpensive.  I haven't had a problem with my Quest 800, but I've heard Crosman warranty work it good, too.

Welcome to the GTA forums, Gerald. I haven't been a member here very long either; I think you'll find this a nice place to be with lots of friendly and very knowledgeable people around to help people like you and I out. The search function also comes in very handy too, and if you can't find an answer you can always just post a thread like you've done here.

For reference, the GRT-III trigger CaptGeorge referred to costs I believe around $30. I've never had one but many people swear by them. As for getting a Quest 800X tuned, you could go with Gene Curtis and get the GRT-III installation packaged with the tune (for the extra $30). His website is http://www.airguntoys.com/
As for getting that B-26 in the classifieds as Daveshoot mentioned, Mike Melick seems to be universally regarded as a magician with BAM guns, especially the B-26. His website is http://airgunartisans.com/flyingdragon/

If you go to the "airgun reviews by author"  link (at the top of the page, in the center, beneath "target shooting gates" and the GTA logo) you should be able to find multiple B26 reviews, and maybe some of the Crosman too.

I've heard good things about both the Crosman Quest 800X and the B26 mentioned in the previous posts to your thread. I don't think you can go wrong with either, though I would definitely get the new trigger for the Crosman and maybe get it tuned also. I don't know if the B-26 in the classifieds needs tuning or not, ask the seller.

Oh, also for reference, the B-26 is a copy of Beeman R-9; while the Quest (i'm not so certain here) takes after a Gamo model, I don't know which.

A definite plus in favor of that B26 in the classifieds is the scope that comes with it, seeing as you want/need one.

Just my thoughts on and a little side info on the matter. I'm no expert though, maybe someone needs to check all this lol. Also, what is "moderately priced" to you? depending on what you mean by that, there may be some other airguns that fit the bill for you.

there is also the chance of scoring a used diana 48/52, and i have seen those for mid 200.00. or choose their chinese counterparts, like the wonderful B 40 (underlever, and sooooo accurate) or the B 30 (more of a hunter)... also for low 200s.

Gerald, welcome to GTA. I know your in the china gate area and I think a MM tuned b-26 would be hard to beat:)
             I have been air gunning for 40 years and would also look the RWS-34 I have one in .22 and its a well made german gun... should last forever, I would recomend at minimum, a lube tune to all airguns:)  I suggest take a look at "Natchez " they have good scope deal BSA AO scope http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID... http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID...    Although  a little more cost the HW30 is a sweet shooter right out of the box ... it is smaller and lighter may suit you better?

See if Mike has gotten in any of the Bam 25's, same as the very nice Ruger Air Hawk but available in .22.  Like having a Diana 34 at half the price.

Hello: I purchased that B-26-2 that BCSHOOTER had listed, all set up.Daveshoot mentioned it was in the classifieds,it was in the area I was looking. I have spent a bit of time on GTA website and found this to be extremely helpful for myself with minor knowledge of airguns.I am no novice in other areas of the outdoor world and I thank everyone who has volunteered there information in my direction.

Gerald, If I could only keep one air rifle from all of mine in my collection,...it would have to be my tuned 34 Diana. I've got American, Chinese, Spanish, and German rifles,...All shoot exceptionally well,...and all are tuned,...but I'd still have to go with the 34. A quality, well designned, well made rifle that will give you many years of reliable service. The 34 has enough power to hunt wih, as well as punch holes in paper or tin cans. Accuracy is second to none in its price range as well!!!! Another thing I like about the 34 is that it's not too heavy to tote around through the woods when hunting. It's an all day shooter for sure!!  There are many great rifles out there to choose from. Best Wishes, tjk
