South Summit pellet trap?
« on: May 30, 2009, 04:12:58 PM »
Has anyone here tried their pellet trap? It's this one:

I just ordered one this am as I wanted one of their cleaning kits for one of my B3s, and also ordered some of their targets. Just wondering what people thought of this trap. I posted here on this forum because they are a popular dealer for some of the Chinese airguns.

  Thanks, Jon

It seems pretty shallow.  Pellets will end up on you floor and it will be pretty loud if you don't put a layer of duct seal in there.  However it doesn't appear you could get a full thickness bar of duct seal in there.

Use duct seal.  You can get it at Home Depot/Lowes in the electrical isle.  It is the stuff used to seal pipe entries, doesn't get hard and is easy to form.  Get about 4 bars and flatten them into the trap.  It will quiet it down and you won't get lead splatters all over your lawn.

looks like compasseco is selling the same thing even cheaper, surprisingly enough. Makes me wonder if their other traps are decent values; I don't know enough about traps to tell though. I guess there's shipping to consider too..

Right you are! One thing about Southsummit.com, is their shipping is very reasonable. Don't know about compasseco.com.
Thanks for the tip on duct seal also. I'll get some for sure.
