As more and more info on "air guns"  (their power and accuracy)  comes to light it wouldn't surprise me a bit to find elected officials in many areas of the country suffering a "knee jerk" reaction and passing all kinds of restrictive legislation.   I wonder how long it's going to be before I have to add my air pistols to my NY State pistol permit

Good joke.......For now that is...... You folk who don't live here in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia, don't realize just how close to the truth that comes.

Our wonderful california politicians are pesently trying to pass a law that makes it illegal to transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition to anyone, even a family member, without a permit to sell ammo. It will also require you to sign/register anytime you buy ammo. And it will outlaw mail ordering ammo and components, IE no more reloading. My question is, where is a state that has no money, is closing down schools, fire stations, and laying off workers going to get the money to enforce this? And do they really think the criminals will play by the rules?

Kinda makes me glad I sent my buddy a gas ram and not a pre-charged pneumatic!  I'd read this same exerpt a while back and it just blows me away what's happening in my home state right now.  I think it would be fair to say that I no-longer consider my native state "home" anymore.

The Govenator has just jacked everything up.  Before him it was Grey Davis who'd jacked everything up and prior to his reign- Pete Wilson.  They're ALL to blame for such non-sense.

Well guys, I think the way California works as I remember after living there for almost 55 years is they will ban lead first.. THen the air... It already is a big big issue with the do-gooders in California.

Join the club ....in Canada any airgun over 500fps is considered a firearm and the purchaser needs a Firearm Acquisition Certificate (FAC) before he/she can buy them. Those airguns must be registered....and if you move....you need to inform the govt. And they cannot be "passed down" to friends or family members.....

Sadly California does not read any better than most Congress critters.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

That does not say firearms anywhere in it... It says "Arms". Air Rifles are arms. Blow guns are Arms. Automatic weapons are Arms and so is a 155 Howitzer.

The government has already violated the second amendment... LONG AGO when they redefined "Arms" to mean "firearms". It does not say, or mean, firearms.

It says exactly what it means.
