Trigger Adjustment on qb79
« on: June 02, 2009, 01:27:44 AM »
I just acquired a qb79 and the first thing I did was to try to adjust the trigger.  I got it down to  an acceptable pull and "click" to try out before taking it apart and honing the bearing surfaces. After shooting it about 50 times, I noticed that the settings had changed and the screws seemed to be backing out again.  Is this normal?  Should I use some kind of thread lock or a locking nut to stop this?  What do I need to do?

Thanks, Joe

Yup... It's normal. On mine anyway. I used teflon pipe dope on mine. The screws are so small that blue locktite would probably be too strong.  Pipe dope stays rather pliable and only adds enough drag to keep to screws in place.

You can get pipe dope at home depot for about 3 bucks a tube.

I'm not sure I know what you are talking about.  I have seen and used teflon pipe tape but haven't ever used dope.  I'll try to get by Lowes and check on some.  Do you put it on the screws while they are still in the trigger assembly or do you remove them and then apply?

thanks, Joe

I use small loc nuts on the rifles I do, if you want two let me know, easy to install and you can adjust easily.
