This topic isn't too political for this location is it? Most all discussions of gun laws end up getting very political.  :D

Why I originally posted this on the Air Gun Gate

A) Not everyone reads the Back Room.  (I didn't for a long time because I thought it was an R&P forum.)

B) It's not about the "S" word.  These guns have moderators which have passed the BATF test.

I didn't intend to create a politcal right/wrong debate.  As the original poster implied, it is what it is and, if you don't want to have your $500+ Marauder confiscated in Detroit, you need to be aware.

Yes, it is getting bad for even airguns. I think in someplaces any airgun over.18 caliber is also considered a firearm. A .22 caliber Marauder owner could be in double trouble.

Shouldn't this need to go to sound moderator forum or the law forum?

Michigan should worry more about its bankrupt auto industry
and be less concerned about how loud the bark of a BB gun is.

I think it was an important bit of information for legitimate airgun buyers because it affects perfectly legal factory equipment on well-known mainstream brands.

If we start talking about the device in question, I believe that is over the line (of forum rules, etc.). But as a straight-up announcement of a state government policy change for mainstream products I think it is very good info to have. It was deleted on the other site where this was posted.

Hard to believe this was deleted on the site I linked to.  Here's another link on the Dianawerk:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/184474/thread/1244033018/last-1244075697/%26quot%3B(MuzzleBrakes)%26quot%3BBye+Bye+to+Whispers+and+what+else+in+Michigan--

Let's face it, this is not specifically about "moderators" as it's about some poor schmuck who just shelled out over five bills for a new Marauder which he can't shoot (much less legally own) because he lives in Michigan.  Someone ought to ask Crosman what they think of this.  That's a significant slice out of their sales market.

I wonder what should one do if they own something like this?

The 7th Circuit Court has ruled, due to precedence, that cities' and states' laws can override the 2nd Amendment ruling about personal firearms. The NRA has taken this to the Supreme Court and this can also apply to States banning such things as manufacturer supplied barrel additions of any kind. Want to help? Join the NRA and call your Congressperson(s) to express your support of our 2nd Amendment right to guns of all kinds.
