Gamo Scope
« on: June 08, 2009, 03:05:47 AM »
Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a good scope and mount for the Gamo Hunter 1250? It got a lot of recoil and I'm looking for something good but not to expensive, I would appreciate if you all can let me know if you have a setup like this and what you all are using.

Thanks.

Sheriff,  welcome to GTA:)  If your looking for a not expensive but good scope I have had success with BSA (AIRGUN RATED) scopes like http://www.natchezss.com/Optics.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=OSAR4X32&prodTitle=BSA%20%20Air%20Rifle%20Scope%204x32%20AO%20Target%20Turrets   and this one  http://www.natchezss.com/Optics.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=OSAR312X44&prodTitle=BSA%20%20Air%20Rifle%20Scope%203%2D12x44%20AO%20Target%20Turrets
Another choice for a little more money  would be to look at leapers, I have 2 of those and they stand up well  http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Leapers_5th_Gen_3-9x50_AO_Mil-Dot_Rifle_Scope_with_R_G_Reticle_1_Tube/658
A good economic one piece scope mount is also very important l have used this one with success and  blue loctite everything  http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Leapers_Accushot_1-Pc_Mount_w_1_Rings_3_8_Dovetail/805  the 4 bolt one peice is better if you can afford it:)   Oh I recommend an AO focus scope due to the airguns closer shooting distances also make sure you get 1" mounts if 1" scope and 30mm if scope is 30mm tubes.  My final 2 cents is to go to walmart and buy the Centerpoint 4-16x40 scope its AG rated and if any problems is easy to return, still buy a one piece mount to fit you AG. Good luck theres alot of choices out there, Tony.

Magnum,
Which setup do you have on your gamo 1250? Also which specific scope would you recommend for my setup?
Thanks for replying.

IMO, the Leapers 5 generation scope and an accushot mount should hold up ok.

I have a GAMO Big Cat and I went with the Centerpoint Scope in 16 x 40 from WalMart and I love it. It's mounted on the stock GAMO mount that came with the original scope and it's held up great. I love the zero locking feature once you've got it sighted in. And you don't have to have a tool to lock it down, you can just turn the dial until it's tight.

The scope can be bought for $69 at WalMart and I would put it up against a Leapers scope in terms of quality and functionality.

WalMart also carries the 9 x 32 Centerpoint scope which is a bit cheaper. I think it's ~$50. I have also seen the BSA scope, although I've not used it or had any experience with it. I've heard good reviews on it though and it's even cheaper at approx. ~$30.

Hello Sheriff, I've had that model for years and I can heartily recommend a sturdy mount and decent quality scope for this hard shooter.I currently use the Beeman 5039 adjustable mount and a Hawke 4x12x40 AO scope.A rock solid, repeatable accuracy set up.The adjustable mount let's me keep the scope near optical center which I like.
