I did it !!!
« on: June 15, 2009, 01:05:11 AM »
I finally got up the nerve and cut off 2 inches off my 350 freukraft.  The velocity increased 20 fps and the accuracy seems ok at 10 meters but I have to check at twenty when I get the time.  That first cut with the hacksaw was painful but it turned out ok I will give more results later.  Here are some pics!

Don't forget to re-crown it!! I cut my BigCat barrel down to 15-3/4 inches and I can still get ragged 1 hole groups 25 yards, but i'm all over the place at 30 yards,,,Go figure... Good luck with your gun  :)

Well here is a preliminary eval of my chopping.  As I stated earlier I gained roughly 20fps and the gun seems to have a slightly but noticeable balance to it after the cut, still barrel heavy but seems better.  I shot some groups with her and the groups are getting better, approx one inch at twenty.  I had to remove my new muzzle brake because I guess the barrel isn't the same exact diameter its whole length and it rattled badly and made the groups larger.  It is still not where I would like it but I'm a little nervous about cutting 2 more inches off I think I am going to wait until the weather cools down a bit and try again. I seem to be more accurate during the fall and winter. I guess its cause the wind is less and the air is more dense to push big heavy pellets. All and all it is definitlely an improvement, in balance and accuracy I will wait to see if I go with another inch or two in the fall. Pic one is mine and Pic #2 is my son, I still don't know how he shoots it so well.  My group is 6 shots and the rest are off covered by the ruler, my son's group is 12 shots all and if you remove the couple of fliers he is getting a little less than 3/4 inch group.

Keep running some lead through her and see how it plays out for awhile. Glad the grouping didn't turn into a shotgun pattern.:) Ed
