Gamo 220 Makes Funny Noises When It's Cocked
« on: June 16, 2009, 09:46:51 AM »
Well, the boys and I were out shooting the other day.  My little guy sits at the bench, cocks the 220 and it made this godawful crunching sound when it was being cycled.  He shot it and it had all the power of a Daisy Red Rider..maybe not that much.  The next shot, the pellet wouldn't even clear the breech.  I think I may need your services, Gene.  Sounds to me like a sping...whadda you guys think?

Bob, how many shots did you guys put thru her before the spring went south on ya?

I always mark down how many shots I took in each gun every shooting session.....That way I know what broke when and/or when I need to do a cleaning in the barrel etc.

That rifle probably has 3 tins of CPHP's through her...total.  About 1500 shots or so.  It's the rifle my youngest son shoots, and since he doesn't shoot a whole lot, I'd say that's a pretty safe estimate.

Good idea about keeping tabs on the number of shots through em before things head South.

Only 1500 shots......that's a short life for that spring.  On average my springers have over 2500 shots out of them.....the only spring that broke was in my Crosman Sierra Pro....which had over 3400 shots at that time.
