Airgunning Atlanta Field target, June match report
« on: June 20, 2009, 10:25:34 AM »
AirgunningAtlanta held their June match today and it was a HOT ONE !! Most shooters arrived around 9am with a couple of stragglers showing up just before 10. By then the heat had started to climb . We shot the same course set up as our May match except one lane on the white range was skipped due to a tree fallen from a storm that had been cut , but was still in the lane and the pull strings missing from the targets , otherwise we would have shot that lane. We also shot the right side of the road , red course , which gave us a possible 58 shot match . We had 7 shooters brave the 90+ degree heat to shoot. As soon as we started out on the range , the wind picked up and became a little gusty , which helped cool things off if you happen to be in the shade , but made some of the long shots more challenging. Other than our regular members , we had a new participant today , Rick a friend of Ken's . Welcome . After only 4 or 5 lanes Ken has to leave to assist in family car matter and Rick left with him. That left , Walt Rollers and Tommy Garland to battle it out for top honors in Open PCP , Eddie Horne and I (David Kirby)for Hunter class , and Doug Vinson shooting Piston class.  After a good bit of sweating , Tommy edged out Walt with a score of 52/58 to 49/58 . Eddie with his BSA Super 10 kicked my tail with a 49/58 to my 40/58. I was shooting my 12fpe HW97K . This is Eddie's first year shooting F/T and I think he's doing pretty good. Doug took Piston Class with a 42/58 shooting his new Whiscombe . I have to say there was some fine shooting going on, as the course was a true hunter's style course with freshly grown brush and over hanging limbs that had grown since our last months match . It was Hot , but a lot of fun by all.  kirby

YEP ! Ed's the same one. He's the guy who won the Gamo at the get -together . He becoming quite a field target shooter with a little coaching . He was already a great shooter, I've just helped him with the little things one needs to learn to be a good field target shooter. kirby
