Question for Gamo Black Shadow owner
« on: June 21, 2009, 04:51:56 AM »
On your Gamo Black Shadow, does it say Hunter 890 as the model?  I may have received a different model than what was advertised by the seller.

Thanks.

I bought mine years back and it was a Gamo Black Shadow Supreme .22. On the breech block it says Shadow Supreme. The power plants in the Gamo Models are all the same.

Hey Khu,

The Black Shadow has a synthetic stock and a black polymer coated barrel.

The 890 Hunter has a wooden stock and all steal barrel. They are different models, but both have the same power plant inside.

The 890 is the more valuable model ! And the GRT-III trigger makes it look and shoot GREAT !!!

I hope this helps.

Like Gene I also bought a Black Shadow .22 a few years ago and mine also says "Shadow Supreme" stamped on it.  The .22 Shadow Supreme .22 came with the same muzzle break that the 890 has  so Bill is correct,,, it's the same power plant ,,,, you just got one that has 890 stamped into it.

This rifle has the Hunter 890S label with the synthetic stock of the Black Shadow.  The seller listed it as Black Shadow Sport and I miss took it as the new Shadow Sport model in all black (at least that's how the picture of the Shadow Sports looked to me).  .  After doing some researching upon receiving it, I came to find out there is no Black Shadow Sport model.  Either a Black Shadow or Shadow Sport but the label on the breech area is neither.  Also, it is not in excellent condition as was advertised and the scope is condensing inside the focus lens.  I opened it up today and saw some fragments of the glass around the edges...not sure where the condenses came from.

Is it .177 or .22 ??

If it's a .177 then perhaps it started out life as an 890 and someone simply changed the stocks ????

It's a .177.  The seller must swapped the stock out.  So far, it shoots very accurate and has a less power than an untuned .177 Ruger Air Hawk (this is the only rifle I can compare with since I don't have a Chrony tester).

Thanks to everyone for your quick replies.  I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future as I'm a newbie on airguns :).
