Good News For PowerLine enthusiasts,...
« on: June 22, 2009, 12:54:24 PM »
Or maybe I just caught up with the Daisy crowd on parts!!!! Late as usual I guess. Well here's the news I thought might spark some interest. I spoke with John at JG airguns and he has parts for the PowerLine (Turkish Hatsan made) rifles (OEM springs, piston seals, and breech seals for the 1000 etc). I ordered three piston seals. One for now,...one for later on down the road if needed ,...and one if any of my GTA bretheren may need one for future use. Luckily he has a good supply in the mean time,...about 30 or so in stock. Now John didn't have much of a positive opinion of the 1000 rifles,..More or less as my opinion of the Benji Super-Streak,...but anyways,.... he did mention that he had three in wood stock,...and three in the synthetic stocked fashion. None are tuned,...but all have been shot/tested to see that they are in working condition,....But he's offering them at a good price,.... what I don't know,...didn't ask. Might be a chance for someone to pick up a "beater" to fool around with. Also,..the seals are marked down from the web-site price ,...at $15.50 eachfrom the $17 on the sight. I will say that these shooters are a step up in power from the Gamo Shadow Whisper/Crosman Quest lines,..and may not be for everybody,...but if interested,..you may look into it!!!! Guess that's about it!!! Happy Shooting Folks, tjk

Ordered to seals on Monday,...recieved them yesturday!!!! Cool I thought, Now we'll see what this shooter can do,...well doesn't look like it's going to happen just yet. I will say that the service I recieved was top notched as far as JG Airguns goes. So here's the deal. The seals I recieved, that Daisy sends to parts providers don't always match up. The seals I recieved are for the Daisy (Hatsan made) pistons that resemble the typical Gamo/Crosman seal seat configuration. The seals I need are more of a snap on 'stepped' type of piston. You'll see what I mean in the pix. I contacted John, and he is currently looking into this,...so we'll keep our fingers cossed. But being the inquisitive kind,..I've done a little more research and comparisons. So I decided to look into the Hatsan models made for other companies to brand their names to. I checked out a rifle that is called the Walther Talon. This rifle looks very similar to the 1000 I have, with the stock being slightly different. It is rated at 1200 fps though. So from looking at the beefier seal that was on my 1000,...this might lead one to believe that somewhere down the line, this same power plant may have been installed in my rifle. Now when you compare my Powerline next to one of my Quest varients,...the compression tube is a bit longer, and seems to have a larger OD than the Quest,.....almost a resemblance to the Benji Super-Streak. So that's a basis to my hypothesis. Like I said,...examine my pictures and you'll see. This is not to say that the seals I recieved from JG won't work in some PowerLine 1000 rifles,...but they won't in rifles made like mine. If anything,...John may be able to procure them as well,..but you'll need to specify which type seal you'll need. I even tried to contact Umarex today and inquire about the Walther's to see if they could offer any info on these rifles . But Haven't gotten a reply yet. Now hear's a real downer for ya,...Joe-joe-airgun posted a reply on my Powerline tune about a LocTite brand glue/sealant called "Repair Extreme". And it's real,...I checked it out on Loctites web-site!!! But I can't find it anywhere!!! Lowes/Home Depot didn't have it nor did any of the other auto/hareware stores I looked at had it either!!!! Looked through my supply catelogues at work like , Travers Tools, Grainger Supply, Fastenall,....nada!!!!. I did find a place I could order it in Ohio,...that the Loctite folks recommended. Sure would be nice to get it locally though. What a *_*_*_*_*_*er,..can't even do a band-aid job on the seal now. I'm bumbed out. Crap!!!!! LOL's oh well, there's always tomorrow. tjk

Any Ideas folks?!?!?!?! Thanks, Thomas

Tell ya what Ronny,...you come east to SC, and I'll let you have it back.I'll give it to you Bro',... But only after I get done with it,....Since I have a seal delay happenning right now,...I've come up with a few more ideas to make this weapon shoot even better than it's "basic deburr and lube tune"!!! The possibilities are endless!!!!! Just need that one piece to make it work, and I'll do the rest. Thomas

You might even consider lapping the barrel using that fine compound and 50 pulls to smooth things out. I noticed when i had it that CPLs would barely fit in the barrel but JSB, having a smaller head diameter would slide right in.

You never know when I might show up in SC!!! Things are changing around here and a new improved job may be coming.

I was thinking of champhering (crowning) the breech port of the barrel. I too noticed that when loading, some pellets had a very tight fit. But it will be 'all for not'  if I can't procure either a new seal,...or the loctite product that seems to be as rare as hens teeth!!!! Hope John, Joe-Joe, or someone from Umarex will chime in with some good news. Still haven't gotten a call back from Umarex either!! tjk
