Work to hunt
« on: February 05, 2007, 12:06:19 PM »
Got out of work today thinking mmm I had rabbit last night for supper, little lady likes em too think God.I have one in the icebox, better stock up. I spent all of two min. changing into my hunt gear and out the door to the endless fields behind the house. Weather was'nt to bad, above 0 and the sun was out. After about a half a mile of tracking some fresh tracks and plowing snow I came upon his burrow. Back tracked , made myself a little snow blind and hunkered down about twenty yrds downwind. Two hours went by and Im getting ready to call it quit's when I noticed two ears pop up . I already had the shadow set up , bipod legs down and a Premier H.P. chambered. Setting my scope on the ears, just waiting for the head.Hello head! have to take the shot now, Im cold and this may be my only shot. BAM, the head vanished, I MISSED ?. Got up , shook the snow off and headed over to his hole. As I got closer I noticed blood splatter on the back side of the hole. Stepping up to it, there he sat at the hole, H.P. hit him in the top of the eye. Gotta love it, that's my deerskin pellet pouch that he's posing with.:) hunting, Ed

Nothing like laying in a frozen snow covered field for a couple of hours to let you know your alive . Love that airrifle hunting, kinda like the mail, neather rain , sleet , snow etc. etc.. Someone will more then likely find me frozen stiff clutching my airrifle and some frozen game with a smile on my face. What a way to go hehehe. :) hunting Ed

Ed....awesome shot. You are a trooper. I am sure that you will never forget that hunt (and most likely every hunt), but to withstand the oudoor elements seems to be even more memorable. To think you missed at first, then to see the results of the labor of your love is nothing short of complete joy. Now feed your lady some more good stuff!

Im spending more time in THE SHOP now on the lathe , still a babe and doing some camo paint jobs on stocks. My shop has turned into a airrifle workshop, thanks BOB AND GENE HEHEHE. :) HUNTING Ed

Excellent bit of hunting Ed, my hat is off to you!!  I'm sure that rabbit will taste extra good after a hunt like that.  I've been sittin inside for the past week thinking about going hunting but haven't had the guts to actually venture out in this weather, but you have inspired me my friend.  I'm gonna get in some hunting this week no matter what the temperature is.

WAY TO GO, A TRUE HUNTER IF I EVER HEARD OF ONE !

I'D TAKE MY HAT OFF TO YOU IF IT WERN'T SO DAM COLD.

MY WIFE WOULDN'T EAT A BUNNY IF I BOUGHT IT A BUTCHER SHOP. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HER WHEN COOKED A SQUIRREL, AND ATE IT, SHE WOULDN'T KISS ME FOR WEEKS.

IF WE WERE ALL HUNTERS, THERE WOULD BE NO BUTCHERS.

GREAT GOING,

Shadow, where in S.D. do you live? I was born in Rapid City, but lived in Box Elder for a short while. My father was stationed at Ellsworth AFB I still can remember seeing Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills. Many years later I was sent to Minot N.D. We ( my other AF buds) would hunt the big jacks in horribly cold temperatures with .22RF's. Small world, huh? Nice huntin' and shootin', btw!
