QB78 88 gram CO2 cylinder adapter
« on: June 24, 2009, 03:35:34 AM »
I have been searching online for an QB78 adapter that would allow use of the 88 gram CO2 cylinders.
I realize that Archer Airguns has the bulk fill adapter for using paintball tanks.
However, I would like to put together an adapter with an ON/OFF valve specifically for the 88 gram cartridge.
So far, I haven't even seen a female fitting that the 88 gram cartridge can screw into.
Does anyone know what is the thread specification is for the 88 gram cartridge?
Also, any ideas where is a good place to get the fittings to put together such an adapter?
Thanks.

Archer's, WalMart, and most paintball shops have an adapter that adapts the 88g Airsource cans to paintball threads. This would screw into the on/off valve.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
That's exactly what I was looking for.
I looked at Archer Airguns and I missed this adapter.
Now, my google searches are turning up all sorts of matches.
I should have been searching for AirSource instead of 88gram cartridge.

Thanks for the information.
The tanks look great.
The QB79 Tank Block Kit is an interesting idea.
My intent was to use the QB78 bulk fill screw in end cap and find fittings to connect to an AirSource cartridge.
The QB79 Tank Block Kit looks like it would work.
But, it looks like it would be necessary to drill mounting hole in the tube.
Wouldn't that prevent me from going back to the original end cap if I so desired?

That would be the drawback on using 88gram tank or 9oz. Once you install the tank block there is no turning back unless you get another tube for that purpose.  I have my QB78 22 bulked and tuned to shoot 30 full shots @ 670 fps and I can still use carts. I use a remote line for extended shooting. I am looking at getting a QB79 for using the 9oz bottles.

Maybe a remote line like you have is the way I should go.
My ultimate goal is to have a CO2 tank with a shutoff valve that will not loose pressure.
Right now, my rifle has enough leakage that after a few days any left over CO2 has leaked away.
In your remote setup, when you shutoff the tank valve, does the tank still hold it's pressure and not leak any CO2?
Would you be willing to post a picture of your setup and/or a list of the components you used.
I'm new to this bulk filling and right now in the learning mode.
Thanks for all the great ideas.

Here's my set up..Got the bulk fill from archers >> http://www.archerairguns.com/Bulk-Fill-Cap-p/ibbfc.htm you don't need to buy the foster fitting..that comes with the remote line I got from here >> http://cgi.ebay.com/G7-Remote-Line-with-Slider-HPA-Nitro-CO2-NEW-DESIGN_W0QQitemZ120439424306QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c0abfc532&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50 ..this remote has a slide to vent or shut co2 when disconnecting to avoid blown seals. I get 30 shots @ 700 FPS with 14.3 gr CPHP and over 1k with remote on 20 OZ bottle.

What a nice setup you have there.
-- -------`
If my understanding is correct, there are two methods of bulk filling.
---------
Method 1 is where you connect the bottle, transfer CO2 liguid from the bottle to the QB78 tube and then disconnect the bottle.
That's where you get your 30 shots.
---------
Method 2 is where you leave the bottle connected while you shoot. This way you are supplying CO2 gas to the QB78 tube and the CO2 liquid stays in the bottle.
---------
Am I understanding this correctly?

If you look at my bottle it has a 1 inch brass nipple by the red slide to minimize co2 loss when disconnecting. I invert the bottle when filling to pass liquid. I you pass gas only you only get 6 shots fill, with liquid I get 30.  You can also use the remote line to fill but you will lose a lot of co2 because the line will be charge also. When using remote expect 1000+ shots with 20oz bottle..I only get my bottles filled to18 oz from the  paintball store, I transport it in a cooler for safety. I only pay $1.00 per fill.
