Ok, Gamo Guys. Whats the story on the Hunter Elite?
« on: February 05, 2007, 05:18:07 PM »
The wife's gonna' kill me, but I'm thinking about getting the Hunter Elite if you guys give it a good grade. I've never owned a Gamo, so this would be my first. Also, can Charlies' trigger be used in it?

Thanks!

Danny

I would probably say it is a Shadow 1000 power plant with a shrouded barrel and differnt stock. Thats why I have not bought any of the new Gamo's because in reality they are remakes of the earlier models. You just pay more now..:)

That's just what it is a Shadow with a tin barrel shroud supported with plastic end pieces, they just treaded the end of the barrel and screwed on a bushing for the sheet metal tube. I had one here that I tuned a while back and It's just a plain old Gamo shadow under the bling bling.

Danny
I got mine right befor Christmas And I LOVE it...At 10lbs,it's no light weight.I started out shooting the heavy weights. Bman crow mag xtra heavy-10.6 and JSB diodlo extra heavy 10.2.  Out of the box it would hold a 5 shot group you could cover with a dime.(10yds in the basement)NOT a good idea, I know.......
I have put only about 75 to 100 rounds through it and have dropped to the lighter ones.He likes the JSB EXACT 8.4. and of course the PREDITOR...
As for the gun,The shrouded barel is all metal and a little heavy, but the extra weight helps hold it on target. The BSA 3x9x50 scope is so so.I now have the Tasco 3x9x32 on it.
NOW the triger......It is crisp and swooooth as a baby's ..... YES,THATS RIGHT IT'S CHARLY DA TUNA'S  TRIGER LOL I can say that HERE. It was here waiting for it. I ordered 2 (1for my Hunter 220 and 1 for the Elit ) Now I have to order 1 for my new CFX Royal, thats on the brown truck.  Dan the triger is a MUST.
All in all I think the gun is awesome.....But thats just my oppinion........

Sounds like your talking about the Hunter Extreme "aka the 1250", not the Hunter Elite because the Hunter Elite does not weigh that much and the barrel shroud is just a hollow tube not solid steel.

Thanks everyone! I'm still wondering about the quality, though. Do you guys think it has the quality of my Webley Xocet? The price seems very reasonable and it looks like a well made gun, but I'm concerned with the internals and the accuracy. What's the firing cycle like? Is there a tuning kit available for the elite?

John, how accurate would you say your Elite is? Also is this gun available in .22?

I know I have alot of questions, but if I'm gonna' buy the Elite, I want to knowing as much as I can about it. Not only that, but the wife said I could buy it as long as I sell something. :0 So the Elite has to be as good as, or surpass whatever I sell.

Danny, I never had mine apart so I don't what's under the" sheeps clothing".
I just joined the forum in Dec. so I'm kinda new at it too.IF it's a shadow under the "sheeps clothing"
start with the shadow and work your way up. I think the Elite is very accurate but what do I know...
I can hold a 5 shot group at 10yds.you can cover with a dime.I just know what I like and that's the Elite and CHARLY's triger.....
