Gamo Whisper blues 2

Well I called Gamo today and they Will not give me a refund since I did not buy it directly frow them. And after reading airgun depots return policy I know Its a lost cause. I decided i would take it apart to and inspect it to try to tune it.Here is what I found.



In the first pic the crack goes all the way to the black line. Also one of the spacers on the cocking arm is missing allowing it to rub on the cylinder. The spring is slightly wavy I dont know if this is normal.I think I should reassemble it and try to get a replacement. This realy sucks.

Wow. This is the first time I have seen a cracked piston. Must have had a violent event to create such a mess like that.

just a suggestion......but any decent tig welder can fix that right up............

Wow.....that is some serious defect.  Too bad Gamo and Airgun Depot don't want to refund your money or replace your gun.

I guess this is another reason to hold on to the barrel in a break-barrel rifle or cocking arm of side and/or under cockers.....imagine if the sear had hooked onto that piston....and then suddenly the piston broke apart.....it would be like the trigger was pulled.

just a question though, Why would airgun depot doesn't honor their return policy if the gun was actually defective? was it because you sent it back to Gamo USA? Also, isn't it ironical that GAMO has seen the problem and yet did not correct it for you? Sounds silly and ridiculous to me.

Well, since we're in the China Gate, my opinion of Gamo's quality is expressed in two words of your eloquent choice. THEY SUCK.

They use aluminum where they ought to use steel, blind rivets and eyelets instead of threaded fasteners; poor quality of casting and machining, and then - they offer zero support, and almost no service! Most that I read, and the majority of the pictures reinforce the contra position on Gamo products. The Chinese products are in general better.

You ought to send these clear images to them. Ask for replacement, in polite but strong words. This is their chance to show they stand behind (and they better dodge fast) their product.

What's the chances of forwarding this entire post to Gamo's corporate headquarters instead of customer service?......most companies will do everything possible to avoid negative public images, so what's up with this company?

...I guess this was my first post...been lurking too long!  I've been following multiple posts on several sites concerning Gamo products as I recently acquired a .177 Whisper in a horse trade sort of deal, brand new, and I have very little in the gun. This mutha twangs like no gun I've ever owned, bucks pretty good too, and yet with the proper hold or benched I've managed to obtain some pretty impressive groups...a couple of days ago I was shooting at a measured 20 yards from a bench at a 25 yard pistol target, got a bit bored and started shooting at the little bitty numbers on the target rings...I dead centered all but 2.
 What I can't get over is the serious lack of customer support from these people, I've dealt with several other air gun manufacturers, obtaining parts, discussing technical aspects and so on, Gamo is completely unresponsive...you can't get someone on the phone, ain't gonna happen, the pat response is "email us, we'll get back to you". After pulling this gun apart , I ordered a rebuild kit and am going to order a trigger, just to see what can be done with the Whisper...hopefully I don't discover anything like the pics above! I'll follow up on this post with my results, just for reference.
