3000 vs 4500 tanks

I was told by a member on another website that a 4500 psi is more dangerous, and is not needed.  That said, there seem to be a few floating around in the Austin area on Craigslist.  I am trying to get all of the HPA stuff together for when I get back this winter, but I was wondering if anyone had any comments on the 4500 psi being too much.

As long as they pass the visual and the pressure test, they should be good. The problem with them is it is hard to find a source that will fill them to 4500 psi. You can find that any scuba shop will fill a 3000 psi scuba tank. If your PCP needs a higher fill than 3000 psi then the 4500 psi tank is the way to go.

All of your big bore guys use the 4500 psi tanks. But you can get many more fills from this tank with PCP's that only require a 3000 psi fill. That equates to fewer trips to the tank's fill station source.

I am thinking about a 177 or 22 in HPA or PCP, and a big bore for pigs and dogs, but haven't narrowed down the big bore yet.  Is there any We fill to 4500 psi national database?

As Gene mentioned the biggest issue with the higher pressure tanks is getting them filled.  Also remember that just because a paintball shop will fill a small paintball tank to 4500 psi doesn't mean they will fill a large SCBA tank to that pressure, and most wont.  I went through this same issue a few months back when I went from my pump to buying a tank and after calling all over the place I could only find SCUBA shops that would fill big tanks to 3300psi and paintball shops that would fill small tanks to 4500psi.  As it turned out I found an awesome SCUBA shop here in Fort Worth that set me up with a standard 3000 psi tank that they will fill to 3300 psi, which gives me a bunch of fills on my S200 that likes a 2700 psi fill and has a small air tube.  If I was only shooting a Discovery or something that takes a 2000psi fill then I would get boatloads of fills, so it really depends on what guns you plan on filling.  Hope this helps,
