No love for the b2?
« on: July 22, 2009, 06:02:10 PM »
Been looking for a cleaning kit for the b3, and keep seeing the b2 with the same specs as the b3, without the underlever.  Where is the love for the b2?  Anyone have one polished up?  Got numbers? IF it's the same power plant is should be easier to scope.

I've sold and tuned a number of them over the years, nice little rifle. They do seem to take longer to break in than other rifles but can be accurate out to 20 yards....not a bad $30 rifle...

Are the internals the same?  Any word on a cleaning kit?

no they are different, the seal in the kit should work, or an Apex small or B-26 seal....can't remember what spring is in there, it's been awhile...

More like no love FROM the B2.
I got one at a gun show a couple years ago. It has the little lever to release the breach. I've lube tuned it, worked on the trigger a bit and polished the crown. Still patterns like a shotgun at 10 yards.
I tinker with it and it shows me no love so I put it up. Awhile later I get it and tinker with it some more and still no love. Every time I think I'll trash it, something makes me hang on to the little piece o'crap and keep tinkering with it  from time to time. My B3-F and TF41 are nice plinkers, but the B2 just confounds me.

Hi Dust:

The fat man loves b-2s.  Great back yard plinkers.  Probably best in 177 as not high powered.  Don't see them for sale much anymore.  South Summit still offers them,  B2-245 at $38.95 so the price has gone up a fair whack but still cheap.

You can just open the box and wail away and it'll break in just fine or open her up and refine the innards to make her a sweet realy shooter. Should clean the barrel before firing, amazing amount of oil and swarf in some of them.   I wouldn't try for more power, it's best kept as a sweet plinker.  A good one can group to 3/8" ctc rested at ten meters.  May need to touch up the crown though.

If you get bored, do a search for Cheap Seats, it'll turn up an overly long dissertation on tuning your very own B-2.  Can't remember whether it's on AirgunGate or ChinaGate but it's out there somewhere.

Cheers
 Fat Man

P.S.  The B-1 is similar in a smaller size.  Build quality was a bit rougher in my experience.

A little lever to release the breech.....that sounds like an old air rifle one of my friends just got free from his neigbour a few weeks ago. It's a .177made in China and have the name of Black Eagle on it. Tried to look for some info on it through the net....didn't find any.
Gamo: Expotec .177 + Big Cat .177 + Viper .177 + Whisper .177, Hammerli Titan .177, Diana model 24 .177, RWS-Diana P5 Magnum pistol .177, Crosman: G1 Extreme .177 + Storm XT .177 + Sierra Pro .177 + 1377 pistol .177, Air Arms S410SL .22, BSA Scorpion T10 .22, FX Cyclone .177, Remington Air Master 77 .177 + BB\'s,

Concur with the idea of CHEAP SEATS.  I loved that article - printed it, read it 20 times and lived it while I tuned my B2.   What a great intro to airgunsmithing!  Kudos again to the fellow Tom who wrote it!

The B3 under lever. I've got two of the little pos. Bought the first one from toolsnow.com. Within 100 shots the breech seal began to self destruct. Emailed them and they sent me another B3 at no charge(that was nice of them). The second one began to self destruct after 50 shots. I made new breech seals from 5/16" rubber fuel hose. Then shoot, shoot, shoot. As you said, they group like a bloody shotgun at ten yards. The first one has a much better trigger. But they have no notion of the word accuracy. I have no problem getting fine groups with my Remington Airmaster 77 or Crosman 1077. If will power was enough, both these guns would be tack drivers. I have tried and tried. I'm ready to throw rhem under a train!!
