Paul told me the other day to stop being so A Social and pop in from time to time so here I am....Been in the saddle a fair bit and have been reading the cycling site ALOT, gathering info, drooling over bikes and finding nowhere near a friendly as this place..Seems alot of the fellows on the biking forums are pretty high strung and the Elitist type, you know the whole " A decent beginner bike starts at $1400.00" type..Pretty much read for the info... As far as Airguns go the B51 has sat in the locker cept for a fix on a leaky check valve ORing and popped a squirrel a few days back..I've fired maybe ...MAYBEEeee ten pellets in the last two months..I wanna sell the B51 for goody $$$$ but I know I'll regret it..Even so im crushing bad on these two girls and may fall into weakness....

Hope everyone is doing well and stays that way !!!! If ya wanna see what im doing from day to day then check my training log here as I log my rides everyday.. !! I haven't been in a car since June 1st and I don't plan on going back.. I've gone from 220 lb to 198 lb and my old work pants I can Literally step into without unbuttoning..Thank God for belts ! Now if I can get my diet a little better I'll drop the next 20 by September..The whole thing has done wonders for the Hernia and the problems that came with it..

She a good bike (Trek 820) but yer right about the tires..When I first started back I was struggling to maintain 13 MPH now if I drop below 18 MPH something is wrong...After pushing this mountain bike for awhile I figure I'll spoiled if I went to a road bike...I'll prolly just swap out the tires for something with less rolling resistance  but not so slick as the roads here are sandy and littered with crap..

Paul....I looked at some cams but all the small stuff is $$$$$$..I do want a cam though but for legal purposes as *_*_*_*_*_*s here dont understand or dont notice bike riders.. The front light has helped IMMENSELY with people cutting me off in a left cross..Still have alot of close passes who dont understand the three foot law..

20 years ago, I rode a lot.  The Cannondales still hang in my garage.  Two DuraAce bikes, one road, one criterium with rear disk wheel and aero bars.  Was a time when I could do 50 miles in two hours on the flats, riding with a buddy, but then I was 20 years younger, more than 50 pounds lighter, and hadn't blown out my left knee yet.

I could make you a good deal on two Cannondale DuraAce bikes.  They have itty bitty sew-up tires that you air up to 120 PSI.  And the disk wheel on the criterium bike with the racing saddle will definitely give your perineum a pounding.

Brent...Soooooo good to hear from you again. Glad the biking is improving your health. Over 20 lb drop is awesome!!! Nothing wrong with your Trek, it's a good bike for the commuter, as for the tires, I have a set of Continental Town and Country's on my Trek 7000. They work great on the road and are ok for occasional off road riding. Keep in touch and we can grill some more steaks, shoot some bb gun's and ride the bikes. We've been working on the back yard and now have a nice deck to entertain on. I need to make a new shooting lane now 'cause the deck is kind of in the way. We have some nice riding around here on bike trails and my son can show us some extreme trails here too if you want to try your skills.

Hey Brent ; Biking is cool . I enjoy it . I also enjoy collecting and working on bikes . I bought a distressed Specialized Rock Hopper for $10 last Friday . It took me about 3 hours of work and a few parts I had on hand to get it on the road . I have a couple of Hard Rocks too. the Treks are nice bikes . I picked up a 800 for my daughter and a 710 single track for my son in law . Check yardsales and be picky and patient and you'll find some bargains . A lot of the bikes I find have only been ridden a short while and spend a few years hanging in a garage . Two years ago I was around 250 and wore a 44 waist pant , Now I'm a loose 38 waist and around 215 . My average speed isn't as fast as you are , I'm sure you're younger than I am . I only average about 50 miles a week , but have been on one ride that was 43 miles ; it took us 4 1/2 hours . I was the youngest  of the three that rode and I'm 58 . As for street tires I like these at Nashbar . They are 40 psi tires , which means they are easier to pump up if I have a flat while on a ride . I carry an extra tube with me . ...in the Spring of 1998.  I took the train to Vancouver BC and stayed with a friend for a few days then caught the ferry to Vancouver Island and the ride started.  Unlike the others I was doing 40 & 50 miles a day as opposed to the 80-100 miles a day the die-hards were doing.  I started the first week in May and arrived at the Mexican border in mid-August.

As for looking for bikes...   I have friends in the industry.  Let me know what you want and I'll see if I can't help make it happen.  I usually pay 20% over whatever cost was.  See, I worked at cambriabike.com for four years.  I'm riding a TST titanium mountainbike.  Maybe I'll even consider unloading it...   would you be interested?

Congrats on the weight loss and the new hobby.  I commend you for leaving GTA and doing something for yourself and your health.  

I need to do the same.  I find myself sitting all the time in front of the PC spending too much time on here and other forums.  

I am definitely going back to racing my car next year or early Fall when I get a few things fixed on it.  When I am at a race event I walk a lot and interact with many people, sweat, etc. and that kept me in half-way decent shape.  I would walk 4-5 miles easily back & forth around and to & from the pit area, plus changing the tires twice is a workout too, as is racing  I have not raced all year and I can tell it's taking its toll on my body.

Glad to hear from you again and see that you are doing so well.  Keep in touch!

Just the DuraAce grupo is way more than I wanna spend on a bike....LoL..Sounds like nice rides though!!! Way back 88-89? I had a Cannondale SM500 moutain bike, was a nice bike....I miss the fat frame tubes...

Thanks for the tip on the T&C tires Dave...I read a bunch of reviews and it seems they let the good name and quality slip  when the outsourced to India...Lotta folks love the old German man one though...Im looking at  Schwalbe Marathon Supreme  but not sure yet..Steak and pedals !!!  :emoticon:

Oh and you should always trim the grass around your deck...makes it look bigger... :emoticon:
