dented casings?
« on: July 31, 2009, 02:07:48 AM »
Is anyone else having problems with Remington ammo? I just picked myself up a box of 170gr core-lokt sp's for my 30-30 win. As always I do my check with every shell... This time I have found that half have noticeable dents somewere along the case, bullet is bent in at the crimp, or even found that some of the primers have slashes in then.. Nothing to be really woried about but I can almost say that they are not gona group well.

I would email a picture to Remington.  And also return for a new box.  Are the primers scratched or actually indented?  I should think Remington would want to know.

Does wally world allow for returns on ammo? This picture is of a dent.. this one is not the worst,,, it's one of the better ones,,, it's not a big, deep dent, but enough of one that you can clearly see when looking at them,, and say "what the hell? should what should i do with this one?".. As for the primers, some are scrached and others are actually indented a tad... The primers don't really bother me that bad, just more or less the dented casings... I doubt that anything would happen,,, like casing splitting or anything like that, but i mean we're not talking about about airgun here, there's hell of a lot of pressure behind those things when they get fired... and since i have a top ejecting 30-30 i kinda baby it when it comes to shooting crappy bullets

That dent is from excess lubricant in the forming die. Pretty common for amature reloaders to experience that. You expect a bit more form high speed, precision reloading equipment from a OEM ammo company.
