Big Bunny Day
« on: February 17, 2007, 01:28:24 PM »
Lost this photo for a bit. This was a 28 count Big Bunny Day with the CFX in .177 and a Mendoza in .177, both shooting Gamo Hunters and RWS SuperDomes. Season is closed now in California but we can still shoot jack rabbit!. Both guns are scoped, the CFX (CDT tune and trigger) with a Leepers 6x32 Bug Buster and the Mendoza with a $29 Barska. Most of the shots were at 35+ yards as they were taken on a grass field that the bunnies were trying to eat to bare dirt. Most jacks shot here are out at 40+ yards and moving.

10 bunnies is the limit per day in California but any of us could have shot then all by ourselves, just would have taken longer. Three of us shot and we quit when it got too late and cold with the high desert wind we have. The big ones are close to 18" long or so. In the beginning of the season I often will limit out in an hour or so. If I was willing to shoot quail, I could have taken my daily limit every day of the season this year, same for dove though they must be shot with a shotgun here by law. We have had chukkar this year (not typical) and there are coyotes and bobcats in our yard almost everyday. It may be the desert but there is a lot of game all year long.

Game out here in South Dakota slows down in the winter, wicked snow storms but there's game to be found if one's willing to brave the weather. Some of my best hunt's were in the dead of winter. Once again, great shootin and pic. Ed
